Services drub Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Quarter Final 4 on Wednesday to book their spot in the semis. Rajat Paliwal's side outplayed Kerala to win by seven wickets at the K L Saini Stadium, Jaipur. Kerala will now take on Himachal Pradesh on Friday in the Semi Final 1 of the domestic tournament.
Services win by seven wicket.
Services 106/2 after 20 overs Ravi Chauhan and Rajat Paliwal are feeling comfortable enough in the middle now as runs are flowing at a canter. The duo is just 6 runs away from 100-run stand.
Services 38/2 after 10 overs Services opener Ravi Chauhan continues to hold on to one end and is looking to have a crucial partnership with Rajat Paliwal, who is taking his time to adjust to the tricky surface in what is fast-becoming a low-scoring thriller.
Services 20/2 after 5 overs While Kerala posted a small total on the board, they are back with a roar with an excellent bowling. U Manukrishnan castles Lakhan Singh and Mumtaz Qadir (both on 4 runs) in a clean bowled and lbw respectively. Just the kind of start Services were looking for.
INNINGS BREAK!
Kerala 175/10 after 40.4 overs All OUT! Sanju Samson's Kerala had a poor outing with the willow after being put to bat first against Services. Barring Rohan Kunnummal's 86 and Vinoop Manoharan' 41, the entire unit endured an unwanted show with the bat. Infact, seven batsmen departed in the single digit scores.
While the entire Services's bowling unit performed well, it was Diwesh Pathania's who was the most economical and the highest wicket taker returning with three scalps. Abhishek Tiwari and Pulkit Narang toppled two wickets each.
In the chase, Services need 176 runs to win from their 50 overs
> Kerala 176/8 after 40 overs Kerala couldn't capitalize on the start they got even when they reached 100 runs inside 25 overs. They lost five wickets in the last 10 overs and the sluggish run-rate has further added to the woes. It is worth noting if Kerala's line-up can drag their innings till the 50th over or will they be bundled beforehand.
> Kerala 161/7 after 36.3 overs Services's bowlers stormed into attack and nearly jolted the Kerala side. The likes of Vishnu Vinod, skipper Sanju Samson managed mere single digit scores while Sachin Baby departed at 12 runs. Rohan returned in a dissapointing run-out and departed at 86.
> Kerala 133/3 after 30 overs Pulkit Narang gives Services the much needed wicket as he removed Vinoop Manoharanc. This also ends a good partnership between the latter and Rohan. While Rohan has smashed his half-centry, Vinoop misses on his well-deserved fifty.
> Kerala 101/2 after 24 overs Rohan Kunnummal and Vinoop Manoharan are taking Kerala forward. The batting unit has reached the 100-run mark inside 25 overs and opener Rohan looks in fine touch. Services, however, are in a desperate need for a wicket
> Kerala 78/2 after 20 overs Services's bowling attack found their rhythm after some uneconomical overs as they conceded just 15 runs from the last five overs. Rohan Kunnummal and Vinoop Manoharan are going the merry way- keeping the scorebaord ticking and avoiding any loose chances.
> Kerala 63/2 after 15 overs Fifty comes up for Kerala and this comes as a confidence booster for the side after the twoi wickets. Rohan Kunnummal and Vinoop Manoharan have smashed 27 runs together and are driving Kerala side. Meanwhile, Services are looking for a breakthrough now.
> Kerala 36/2 after 10 overs After a fluent start in the first five overs, Kerala suffered a dual blow in the seventh over when Services's pacer Diwesh Pathania removed Mohammed Azharuddeen and Jalaj Saxena in successive deliveries. The two quick wickets have thrown huge responsibilities on Rohan Kunnummal and Vinoop Manoharan as the duo is trying to stabilize their side after the jolt.
> Kerala 19/0 after 5 overs Kerala openers Rohan Kunnummal and Mohammed Azharuddeen are taking some time to adjust and sideways are keeping the scoreboard ticking. The duo has given their side a steady start and are carefully playing the Bahadur-Pathania bowling spell.
> Services have won the toss and have opted to field.
