Srilanka Tour to India(2014):  With the sudden departure of West Indies in the middle of a series, BCCI arranged a alternative five match bilateral series against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka under Angelo Mathews seemed to be not at all prepared for the tour and it was reflected in the final scoreline also. India Won the five match ODI series 5-0 and drubbing the Sri Lankan team a worst series defeat in  the recent times.

It was a series in which the Indian batsmen made a run feast on the Sri Lankan bowlers with batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane winning the man of the match award in the three games for India. Dhoni's boys won the first match by a huge margin of 169 runs and continuing the winning streak in the following four ODI. It was just the right momentum that Team India needed before they start for their tour Down Under.

Team India played poorly in the Carlton Mid ODI series as was not able to qualify for the final also. Many cricket experts raised eyebrows as World Cup 2015 was just a few days away and loosing Team India's ability to qualify for the final in the triangular ODI series just ahead of the World cup was  certainly  not a good news for the Indian cricket fans.
