India's Tour to England (2014): It was Team India's first major tournament and playing England in England was always going to be a tough task for Team India. England had already won the five matches test series with a scoreline of 4-1 after India won a historic test match at Lords after 28 years. The first ODI between both the countries were abandoned at Bristol were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
India won the 2nd ODI at Cardiff with some impressive performance by Suresh Raina and Indian spinners which resulted in Team India winning by 133 runs (India 304/6 (50/50 ov); England 161 (38.1/47 ov, target: 295).
Team India continued their superb performance against the Alistair Cook's side with some quality spin bowling from Ashwin and some superb display to win the next two fixtures with a margin of six and nine wickets respectively and to take an unassailable lead of 3-0 .
It was only in the fifth ODI that England gained some momentum to defeat India by 41 runs with a fine century scored by Englands's emerging batting star Joe Root and make the final scoreline read 3-1 in the five match ODI series.
