T20 World Cup 2022: The T20 World Cup 2022 produced another surprise on Monday as Scotland defeated former winners West Indies by 42 runs. The Scottish bowlers, led by Mark Watt, Brad Wheal and Michael Leask displayed a brilliant show with the ball as they bowled the Windies side for 118 in the second innings. Earlier, opening batter George Munsey played the anchor role in pressure conditions and played a knock of 66 runs to help the team score 160 in 20 overs.
Scotland was asked to bat first at the Bellerive Oval stadium in Hobart. The duo of Munsey and Michael Jones walked out to bat and got the Scottish side to a good start before rain stopped play in the sixth over. Scotland's side went back with both their openers not out. However, when they came back, the Windies inflicted some blows and kept taking crucial wickets at regular intervals. Munsey held one end up and smashed an unbeaten 66 off 53 to take his side to 160 in 20 overs.
Coming out to bat, the Nicholas Pooran team also could not get off to a good start and lost early wickets. After their openers went, the middle order batters fell quite easily as Scotland eyed for a famous win. The net run rate kept soaring and Jason Holder, who stayed in the middle for a little longer could not help his team. The Windies got bowled out for 118 and lost the match by 42 runs. The victory has taken Richie Berrington's side to the top of the table and has also boosted their net run rate by a huge margin.
