Colombo: The second edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) has been scrapped after the Twenty20 tournament's franchises failed to pay Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) their dues.
In a press release, SLC said the franchises have "failed to pay the franchise consideration [fee] for this year and more importantly have failed to deposit with SLC the bank guarantees to secure the player payments", and so the league "will not take place" this year.
