Selectors wanted to make Sehwag skipper replacing Dhoni, reveals Amarnath

Mumbai, Dec 12: Team India selectors, after the 0-4 whitewash in Australia, wanted to appoint Virendra Sehwag as captain in place of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni early this year, reveals former selector Mohinder Amarnath in

Amarnath told Times Now that "certain internal reasons" stopped the selection committee led by K Srikkanth from replacing Dhoni after the Australia tour.

Amarnath, who was tipped to replace Srikkanth as chief selector in September this year, said: "Definitely there were discussions to replace Dhoni and people had even agreed to do so, but for some internal reasons, it didn't happen. I would not like to divulge what the reasons were. But when the time is right, I will let the people of this country know about the reasons."

Amarnath referred to his differences with current BCCI chief N Srinivasan and said: "In Indian politics and cricket, it's always the same. there are people who are controlling the game and other people are too scared to take a stand."
