"Focus was just to reset [after semis], not get too ahead of ourselves. We knew that we still had a really quality opponent in New Zealand to go and yeah, just didn't play our best cricket tonight. They really came out as hard in that powerplay. There was fear and intent early on from them. At first we thought we could score a few wickets here or there, but they just kept going. Yeah, probably let them score a few too many. It put a lot of pressure on us at the back. Lessons? I don't know. I think we'll have to have a good reflection on what exactly happened. We're still a bit fresh right now. But yeah, half way stage, you know, I think we're still backing ourselves to chase a little bit. It's going to be a record-run chase, but you got off to an absolute flyer. [ on the start with the bat] definitely thought it was game on after that. But yeah, they really put the squeeze on after that. I think 7-11 was probably not our best phase. But credit to them, they were all pretty well in that phase. [on SA's future] Very exciting. Obviously, you have some really experienced players like Marizanne Kapp, but you have some awesome youngsters coming through. You have some youngsters on the bench as well that didn't get an opportunity for the World Cup, but have been very exciting in previous series. So yeah, we'll just keep building, go back to the throwing board and hopefully have a good next World Cup. Just a really big thank you to our management. I think the work that they put in behind the scenes isn't always noticed. The hours and hours that they spend getting us ready to play is something that we're really appreciative of and they don't get enough recognition for. Also, just to the families that flew out. A lot of families flew out last minute last night. It was a big mission getting visas in the last 48 hours, but most of them managed to be there. Big shout out to ICC for their continued support."

Once I get my hands on that trophy, we will get away. I started to dream last night about what it feels to hold the trophy with this team, didn't want to get to ahead of us. This group, Suze and Lea and for New Zealand cricket, it has been a long time. The great thing about this group is we know what we have been trying to achieve in the last 15, 18, 24 months. We kept taking steps in right directions, you want momentum and we came to the World Cup on the back of 10 successive losses. But everyone starts on zero. Speaks to the volume of who Suze is as a player. Most capped player in history of women's game, to think she can go out and play with such aggression and fearlessness. To have her in the side, it is just special, to lift it for her. [On Tahuhu] I have spoken about her at length. You want a person like her in the team, she will scrape and fight for you. It is not always about the wickets, but it is about the work that goes behind it and working hard for your mates. [Halliday and Kerr] Outstanding. Brooke was outstanding against West Indies. Spoke about backing our strengths, she backed her strengths, found those pockets, ran hard. Helped us get to a competitive total. [Kerr] We all know she is a once in a generation player. What she was able to do tonight was incredible. Physically to do what she did with the bat, I think she can't feel her legs. She is not a bad cricketer but the person that she is, the world is her oyster and is great. South Africa were great, the semi-final against Australia was unbelievable."

New Zealand players are not hiding their emotions as they won their first-ever World Cup today. They lost in the finals of the first two editions but finally ended their wait for the silverware. What a day in New Zealand cricket's history. 

Eden Carson concedes just 5 runs in the last over and the White Ferns burst into celebrations.

New Zeland veteran Suzie Bates creates history today as she breaks the Indian legend Mithali Raj's record for most international appearances in women's cricket. Suzie Bates is playing in her 334th international game today (163 ODIs and 171 T20Is).

Both teams take a stand for the national anthems for one last time in this eventful World Cup in the UAE. All stands are packed and we are expecting a thriller final shortly. 

We were gonna have a bat anyway, so it has worked out well for both teams. Looks like a good surface and we want to put runs on the board in a final. We have really embraced those changes that come with being in the final, extra media attention and extra crowd and what not, such an awesome opportunity and privilege to be here, so we are just soaking it all in. We are playing the same eleven. Tom and the boys did a fantastic job in India, first Test win over there for a wee while. We certainly take motivation from them and what they are capable of doing.

We gonna have a bowl first, it worked really well for us in the tournament and we are gonna stick to that. New venue, new opponents and new day, so we gotta work really hard. Same eleven. Credit to our medical staff as well for getting us on the pitch.

No changes to South Africa's playing XI today.

New Zealand also field the same playing XI that defeated West Indies in the final. 

It looks like an even contest in the final today but surprisingly New Zealand have won 11 of 16 T20I games played against South Africa. 

New Zealand entered the tournament with 10 T20I losses in a row and were not tipped to secure the top-four finish.

But the White Ferns stunned the Indian cricket team in their first game with a statement 58-run win to declare their intentions. However, they suffered a huge 60-run loss against rivals Australia in their second group-stage game but made a strong comeback.

Sophie Devine-led side beat Sri Lanka and Pakistan in their last two games to earn a deserving semi-final berth. 

In the second semi-final, the White Ferns pulled off a thrilling 8-run win while defending just 128 runs against West Indies.

South Africa women lost their opening Group B game against title contenders England but made a strong comeback by winning the remaining three games.

The Proetas sealed the semi-final spot after West Indies stunned England in the last group stage fixture. 

In the semi-final, South Africa took on the six-time champions Australia. Bowlers did a great job to restrict the mighty Aussies to 134 and then Anneke Bosch scored a brilliant match-winning fifty to guide her team to the final. Bosch scored 74* off 48 balls, the highest individual score of this World Cup.
