Kolkata: Former India cricket captain Saurav Ganguly will be conferred the honorary Doctor of Letters by the Bengal Engineering and Science University for his contribution to the country's sports scenario, its vice chancellor said Tuesday.
BESU, located in Shibpur, in neighbouring Howrah district will honour Ganguly at its annual convocation Feb 25.
“Ganguly has brought glory to Indian sports, particularly cricket, and we will recognise that,” Ajoy Ray, vice chancellor of BESU said, adding, cricket is an amalgamation of science, technology and art.
West Bengal Governor M.K.Narayanan will give away the degree to Ganguly.
