New Delhi: The ten day long festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi today began in Maharashtra and other parts of India with utmost joy and fervour as devotees of Lord Ganesh welcome the Lord who is also known as the destroyer of obstacles to their homes. The festival will continue till September 27.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first cricketers to wish his followers on social media.

The batting maestro added spark to the celebration by posting a picture of him with his wife Anjali, son Arjun and daughter Sara in front of Lord Ganesh . The family visited Mumbai's biggest Lord Ganesha pandal, Lalbaugcha Raja.

Suresh Raina, who is in Bangalore and playing in the India ‘A' series against Bangladesh ‘A' as a tune-up for the big battle against South Africa, wished his followers, “Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to every one.”
