Centurion, South Africa: Fast bowlers Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel shared seven wickets as the West Indies was bowled out for 201 and forced to follow on by South Africa on day three of the first test at Centurion on Friday.

Philander recorded figures of 4-29 while Morkel took 3-55 as the West Indies was dismissed shortly after tea to concede a 351-run deficit on the first innings.

While all of the West Indies top six made it to double figures, Devon Smith's 35 was the top score as none of them were able to follow through.

That was in stark contrast to South Africa's first innings of 552-5 declared, which featured a double-century from Hashim Amla and centuries by AB de Villiers and Stiaan van Zyl.

Philander broke an obstinate opening stand of 72 between Smith and Kraigg Brathwaite during an extended morning session, then picked up Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Jermaine Blackwood shortly before tea.

The day's initial breakthrough came in controversial circumstances, with Smith given out caught behind despite replays suggesting that there had been no contact with the bat.

There was no doubt about Braithwaite's dismissal for 34 though, as his genuine edge was held by Hashim Amla at slip.

Marlon Samuels and Leon Johnson took West Indies safely through to lunch on 110-2, but Johnson fell for 31 shortly after the interval when he scooped a Kyle Abbott delivery straight to cover.

Samuels and Shivnarine Chanderpaul dug in for the better part of an hour, but Morkel broke a crucial partnership when he forced Samuels to play on for 33.

Philander then ensured a hugely productive session for the Proteas when he had both Chanderpaul, on 21, and Blackwood, 12, well caught by Alviro Petersen at second slip.

That sent West Indies to tea on 184-6, and it took South Africa just five overs to wrap up the tail as Morkel struck twice more.
