Kuldeep Sen bowls a superb last over to hand RR their third win of the season
With 15 runs needed in the last over Sen gives just 1 in the first four balls and 10 in next two against Marcus Stoinis who was looking in good touch to hand RR their 3rd win of the season. With this win RR move to second spot in the points table.
All eyes on Marcus Stoinis as 15 needed in 6 balls
Stoinis has scored 28 runs in 12 balls with the help of three sixes and a four. Avesh Khan is batting with strike rate of 600 with a six in one ball against Chahal. It's a last-ball thriller for cricket fans!
Four wicket haul for Yuzvendra Chahal
150th wicket for Yuzvendra Chahal as he removes Dushmantha Chameera for 13. After a string of balls outside off, the leggy bowls right in the stumps, Sri Lanka misses the ball. Umpire refuses the wicket but Sanju Samson takes a perfect review to reduce LSG to 126/8. Chahal and Kuldeep are at the top of the list for most wickets in the season.
Krunal Pandya gets clean bowled
Krunal shuffles and moves towards off in order to try sweep over square leg. Chahal bowls quick into the stumps, Krunal misses and Chahal gets his third wicket of the match. Krunal could not revive himself after dropping Hetmyer. Chahal is now the new purple cap holder with 10 wickets in 4 matches. Marcus Stoinis and Dhushmantha Chameera have the responsibility of finishing the game for LSG.
Sluggish innings of Quinton de Kock comes to an end
After not being able to middle the ball for 32 balls, de Kock's 39-run innings comes to an end. Chahal gets his second wicket of the match. Riyan Parag takes an easy catch at cow corner. Marcus Stoinis joins Krunal Pandya in the middle with 65 runs needed in 27 balls.
Aayush Badoni departs
Yuzvendra Chahal gets his first wicket of the night as Aayush Badoni departs on five. The batsman holes out to long-off. Chahal does him in the flight. Tossed up nicely, he dances down but isn't quite to the pitch of it. Fifth wicket down for LSG as Krunal Pandya, who dropped the catch of Hetmyer, Joins de Kock in the middle.
Kuldeep Sain claims maiden IPL wicket
The right-arm pacer Kuldeep Sain claimed his first wicket in the IPL as he clean bowled Deepak Hooda on 25. Kuldeep is bowling around 140 KMPH and this helped him get the wicket of Hooda as he was beaten by pace. With this wicket, LSG now has lost its fourth wicket. Young sensation Aayush Badoni has joined de Kock in the middle.
Prasidh Krishna removes Jason Holder
Another one bites the dust! Jason Holder goes for a big shot on a short ball from Prasidh Krishna, gets the top edge and Ashwin takes simple catch at mid-on. Deepak Hooda has joined de Kock in the middle. With three wickets down, LSG badly need a partnership. Fortunately, both inform batsmen are out in the middle.
Another Golden duck! This time it is Krishnappa Gowtham
After removing Rahul, Boult bowls wide and then dismisses Krishnappa Gowtham on another golden duck. Traps the right-hand batsman right in front of the wicket. The left-arm pacer goes round the wicket, the ball covers back in and hits Gowtham on the back pad. LSG in deep trouble.
Golden duck for KL Rahul
Extra-ordinary bowling by Trent Boult as he clean bowled LSG captain KL Rahul on the first ball of the innings. It was a replica of the way Shaheen Sha Afridi dismissed KL in the T20 World Cup 2021. The ball holds its a line as Rahul plays across as Boult disturbs the timber.
Here we go then! Trent Boult will start the proceedings for Rajasthan. The pacer will look for early swing as they need wickets upfront. On the other hand, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock will aim for a steady start in 166 run chase.
Shimron Hetmyer powers Rajasthan Royals to 165/6
West Indies power hitter Shimron Hetmyer's 36-ball 59 runs innings helped Rajasthan Royals recover after being 67/4 against Lucknow Super Giants. Hetmyer along with R Ashwin stitched a crucial partnership for the 5th wicket where the duo scored 68 runs. The southpaw's innings was studded with six maximums and one boundary. In the 19th over Ashwin decided to retire himself out giving Riyan Parag an opportunity to finish the game. Parag could hit just one boundary in his four-ball stay at the crease.
Ashwin, Hetmyer steady RR's ship
From 67/4 in the 10th over, the duo of R Ashwin and Shimron Hetmyer took the Rajasthan Royals' total to 108/4 at the end of the 16th over. Ashiwn smashed Gowtham for two sixes in the over to score 22 runs in 17 balls while his West Indian partner is still finding it difficult to middle the ball. Hetmyer has scored 22 ball 18 runs with the help of a six.
Two wickets in one over for Krishnappa Gowtham
This time it is Rassie van der Dussen! The off-spinner bowling from around the wicket, bowls just outside off, the ball skits a bit and takes the off-stump. Not a great start for South African batsmen in the cash-rich league.
Krishnappa Gowtham dismisses Devdutta Padikkal
Spinner into the attack and Krishnappa Gowtham strikes on the first ball. Third wicket for LSG as RR's top three are back in the pavilion. Padikkal goes for a reverse sweep, lives it towards slip and Holder completes the formalities. Crazy celebration by Krishnappa Gowtham.
Jason Holder traps RR captain
LSG all-rounder Jason Holder removed the RR skipper Sanju Samson in the 9th over of the innings. Holder bowled a low full toss, Samson wanted to hit it towards cow corner plays it across, and ends up taking it on the front pad. Umpire takes no time to adjudge Sanju out. LSG bowlers are making a good comeback after a great display of batting by RR in the powerplay.
Avesh Khan Clean Bowled Jos Buttler
Orange cap holder Jos Buttler was clean bowled by Avesh Khan on his first ball of the night. It was a full and quick delivery around the middle stump, Buttler goes for a big shot down the ground but the ball curves in slightly. Buttler misses and Avesh strikes. The middle stump has been knocked over. Much needed a breakthrough for DC as Buttler is in stealer form.
So here we go then! The New opening pair of Devdutta Padikal and Jos Buttler are out in the middle for Rajasthan Royals while Dhushmantha Chameera will open the bowling for Lucknow Super Giants
Toss Report
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss and opted to field first against Rajasthan Royals in the 20th match of the IPL 2022 here at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday.
Team Changes
Both the teams have made two changes in their playing XI as Rajasthan drops Navdeep Saini and Yashaswi Jaiswal to bring in Rassie van der Dussen and Kuldeep Sain. On the other hand, Lucknow dropped Evin Lewis and Andrew Tye to include Marcus Stoinis and Dhushmantha Chameera.
Playing XI for both the teams
Rajasthan Royals Jos Buttler, Rassie van der Dussen, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson(w/c), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Kuldeep Sen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal
Lucknow Super Giants KL Rahul(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Krishnappa Gowtham, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan
Both team captains at the toss
Sanju Samson: We did the same thing last time (batting first), so just need to put runs on the board and defend it later. Nothing can be done about the toss, our team is well-balanced to deal with that factor. We have two changes - Kuldeep Sen in for Navdeep Saini, Rassie van der Dussen in for Yashasvi Jaiswal
KL Rahul: We're gonna look to bowl first. Even last game, I didn't have any other reason. Just that we want to know what to chase and maybe, dew might come on later. Every game starts fresh and I've not had a great game here. It always balances out. Just want to come out and do the job for the team. We're chasing, so we'll know what to do and I can pace my innings accordingly. We have a great team and that makes the team of a captain easy. When you have experienced players and about 9/10 of the players in the first XI are international players, it makes the captain's role easier. I'm enjoying the captaincy. Two changes - Lewis and Tye miss out, Stoinis and Chameera come in

Jos Buttler, Lokesh Rahul (C), Devdutt Padikkal, Deepak Hooda, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Yuzvendra Chahal (VC), Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult
Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson (captain/wicketkeeper), Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, Riyan Parag, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Devdutt Padikkal, Navdeep Saini, Karun Nair, Rassie van der Dussen, James Neesham, Anunay Singh, Daryl Mitchell, Dhruv Jurel, Shubham Garhwal, Kuldip Yadav, Kuldeep Sen, Obed McCoy, Tejas Baroka, KC Cariappa.
Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul (captain & wk), Quinton de Kock (wk), Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Evin Lewis, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Andrew Tye, Kyle Mayers, Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Ayush Badoni, Manan Vohra, Krishnappa Gowtham, Shahbaz Nadeem, Ankit Rajpoot, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Karan Sharma.
Rahul has led the side admirably in the matches played so far in the 15th edition of the lucrative league, the likes of Evin Lewis, Deepak Hooda and young Ayush Badoni shining with the bat has lent great balance and stability to the team.
As far as bowling is concerned, the pace-spin duo of Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi have managed to hold their own against some of the most established names of T20 cricket.
Having quickly overcome the opening loss to Titans, LSG were further bolstered by the addition of West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder to the side, adding more depth in both bowling and batting.
Coming off a six-wicket win over the Capitals, LSG will take a lot of confidence from that into their next outing at the Wankhede Stadium.
In slaying DC, seasoned opener Quinton de Kock displayed imperious form with a 52-ball 80, even as the likes of Badoni and Krunal Pandya chipped in with cameos to seal the game for LSG.
Krishnappa Gowtham's economical spell against DC's formidable batting line-up has done his confidence a world of good as the off-spinner approaches the game against Rajasthan Royals.
Rahul got out after getting a start and he would certainly look to make amends on Sunday. However, it is easier said than done when up against a side like RR, which has emerged as one of the stronger teams in the competition so far, notwithstanding the loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore in its last outing.
Before the reverse against RCB, RR won two matches, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians by 61 runs and 23 runs respectively. Arguably one of the best batters in the shortest format, Jos Buttler is going great guns, following up his blazing hundred with a 47-ball 70 against RCB.
Buttler in form is a huge positive for RR, who can also look up to Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer for quick runs. And then there is also skipper Sanju Samson, who can tear apart any bowling attack once he settles down in the middle.
Pacer Navdeep Saini has leaked runs in the last couple of matches and it remains to be seen if Riyan Parag, who has not contributed with the ball, continues to bat at number six.
Playing with three overseas players in Buttler, Hetmyer and Trent Boult, fourth-placed RR have the option of drafting in an all-rounder like Jimmy Neesham to lend more balance to their XI
