Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 65th match of IPL 2023 on Thursday. By registering the win, RCB have moved closer towards the Playoffs qualification as they have added 2 points to their tally and now have one more game to go. In the match, Bangalore won the toss and opted to bowl, Coming to bat first, SRH players registered a score of 186/5 (20 overs).
Sunrisers innings was powered by Heinrich Klaasen's century. In response, RCB batters chased the target in just 19.2 overs. Virat Kohli hit an impresssive century to steal the thunder from Heinrich Klaasen's maiden IPL ton. While Klaasen smashed six sixes and eight fours during his knock of 104 runs off 51 balls to guide SRH to 186/5 (20 overs) from 28/2 in the fifth over. Kohli (100) had other plans as he and Faf du Plessis (71) helped RCB chase down the target with their 172-run opening stand, the highest partnership of the season.
Following the victory, RCB have now climbed to the fourth position because of their batter run-rate than Mumbai Indians who also have 14 points. They will want to win their next match against Gujarat Titans to stay in the contention as Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are at 15 points with one match to go.
Earlier, Klaasen registered a 76-run partnership with Aiden Markram (18) before adding another 74 off 36 balls with Harry Brook (27 not out) to take SRH to a competitive total. Already out of playoff race, SRH once again had a poor start with Rahul Tripathi (15) and Abhishek Sharma (11) getting dismissed early.
