Islamabad, Jun 15: Pakistan's former captain and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has resigned as Afghanistan cricket coach.
Latif told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he was disappointed after Afghanistan was beaten by Pakistan 'A' in a three-match one-day series last month.
Latif replaced another former Pakistan test bowler Kabir Khan as Afghanistan coach in July last year.
His biggest success came during the Asian Games at Guangzhou in November, where Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in the semifinal but lost to Bangladesh in the final.
Latif said his contract was due to expire on July 20, but "I want to give the new coach enough time to settle down."
Afghanistan next plays against Canada in August in an Intercontinental Cup game. AP
