LSG vs PBKS: Punjab Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants in nail-biting thriller

Punjab Kings registered a brilliant win in the 21st match of the IPL 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. In the match played at LSG's homeground, Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, PBKS beat LSG by 2 wickets. It's worth noting that Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the game due to a niggle and Sam Curran was named the stand-in skipper. After winning the toss PBKS opted to bowl. Coming to bat first, LSG registered 159/8 in 20 overs. On the other hand, Punjab completed the chase successfully in 19.3 overs with 2 wickets in hand.

Punjab Kings did not have a good start as their opener Arthav Taide was dismissed in the first over without scoring any runs. Moreover, Prabhsimran Singh was also able to score just four runs before getting dismissed. Interestingly, the first two wickets were taken by Yudhvir Singh Charak who made his IPL debut. However, Matthew Short stabilized PBKS innings but then was dismissed after scoring 34 runs. Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Sikandar Raza shared an impressive partnership to take Punjab closer to victory.  While Harpreet contributed 22 runs, Sikandar played an innings of 57 runs in 41 balls. On the other hand, Sam Curran scored 6 runs, and Jitesh Sharma scored 2 runs. In the end, Shahrukh Khan hit some big boundaries and guided his team to victory after playing a 22-run knock.

Captain KL Rahul scored the most runs for Lucknow Super Giants by smashing 78 runs off 56 balls. Kyle Mayers contributed 29 runs, Deepak Hooda scored 2 runs and Krunal Pandya contributed 18 runs. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran could not even open his account. Towards the end, Marcus Stoinis scored 15 runs, Ayush Badoni scored 5 runs, and Krishnappa Gowtham scored 1 run to take LSG to a decent total of 159 runs.
