Mumbai, April 1: The Wankhede Stadium track for the Saturday's cricket World Cup all-Asian summit clash between India and Sri Lanka appeared totally different from his team's previous encounter here against New Zealand, said Lanka's senior batsman Mahela Jayawardene.
"We have played on this ground against New Zealand. There was a lot of grass on the wicket. We couldn't even identify the wicket when we walked in. But today we see a good brown wicket here. It is a different wicket here," said Jayawardene on Thursday. On March 18, Sri Lanka thrashed New Zealand by 112 runs in their last Group A league game, by scoring 265 for 9 and then bundling out the Black Caps for a meagre 153.
The seasoned Lankan cricketer, however, was optimistic that his team had the necessary variation in its bowling department to cope with the vagaries of the track.
"We know how it might work, but we have got lot of variation in our armoury. What we have done in the past is that according to the opposition and the conditions we have chosen our attack. There would not be any difference."We will sit down and chat what we want to achieve and go with a good game plan and execute them," he added. PTI
