IPL 2022, Highlights, PBKS vs CSK: PBKS win by 11 runs; Dhawan shines

PBKS win the match by 11 runs and move up to the 6th place on the points table. CSK sink further. The season hasn't been kind to them. 

A special mention to Arshdeep Singh who has been absolutely excellent for Punjab. He gave just 6 runs in the 17th over, and that was indeed the turning point of the match.  

OUT! Dhoni is out. Rishi Dhawan is ecstatic. The PBKS dug-out is all smiles. They know the value of this wicket. The chase is over for CSK. 

Boundary from Dhoni and then a single of the last ball of the penultimate over. 27 runs required of the last 6 balls. Dhoni on strike. Rishi Dhawan to ball the last over.

OUT! Rabada bowls out Rayudu. Dhoni is the next batter. 35 off 12 balls is the equation for CSK.

The equation is simple for CSK -  41 runs | 18 balls

CSK 141/4 after 16 overs: Big over for CSK. Rayudu hits Sandeep Sharma for 3 back to back sixes follwed by a boundary to end the over. 23 from the over. 

50 for Rayudu. No real celebrations from him. He knows there's a job to be done here. CSK are at 118/4 after 15 overs. 

OUT! Ruturaj is caught at long-off. Gets a little too excited after the last boundary. Mishits this time, and Mayank doesn't takes a sitter.

CSK 81/3 after 11 overs: Rayudu at it again. A boundary followed by a six. Livingstone isn't helping himself. Kept feeding Rayudu in the slot, and he takes full toll.

CSK 64/3 after 9 overs: Big over for CSK. Rayudu hits a boundary followed by a six one ball later. 13 off it, and CSK are catching on. 

OUT! Rishi Dhawan bowls Dube out. CSK are 3 down in no time and are in trouble. 

CSK 32/2 after 6 overs: Alright, a very ordinary powerplay for CSK. Punjab also started slow, but they had wickets in hand. Chennai bats deep, but 32/2 after 6 overs doesn't really inspire any confidence.

What an innings from Dhawan. Punjab has a great score on board. Chennai will have to play at their absolute best to chase this down. Stay tuned!!

Bravo to bowl the last over. Another maximum from Dhawan. Launches it towards deep mid-wicket. Now Bairstow hits a boundary. Punjab finishes with 187/4 after 20 overs.

PBKS 174/2 after 19 overs: Livingstone has come in and taken Pretorious to the cleaners. A boundary followed by two sixes. Absolute carnage from Liam. Now Dhawan joins the party. Four over fine leg to end the over. 22 from the over. 

OUT!! Rajapaksa is out caught. Finally some respite for CSK

PBKS 136/1 after 16 overs: Great over for Punjab Kings. Bravo delivers the ball outside the pitch area, and it is adjudged as a no-ball. Free hit, and Dahwan sends the ball straight down the ground. Another boundary from Dhawan. This time he lofts it over mid-off.  

PBKS 117/1 after 14 overs: Pretorious comes back into the attack. What a shot from Rajapaksa. Low full toss from Pretorius, and he just smacks it over long-on. Now Dhawan sweeps for a four. PBKS are taking charge.

PBKS 94/1 after 12 overs: Twin boundaries for Dhawan. First one to the left of point and the next one to its right. Another boundary, this time he just flicks it to fine leg. Good over for PBKS. 16 off it. 

PBKS 72/1 after 10 overs: Bravo comes into the attack. Nothing much happening right now. Both batters are trying to score, but the pace of the wicket isn't assisting much. Boundary for Rajapaksa. Wanted to go over extra-cover, just manages an edge that flies over third man.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa has been dropped again. Jadeja bowled well within the plan and had his man. Santner the culprit this time. 

PBKS 51/1 after 8 overs: Dhawan is looking to up the ante. A boundary for him towards sweeper cover. 8 off the over.

PBKS 37/1 after 6 overs: Maheesh comes into the attack and Dhawan greets him with a six over mid-wicket. They need a big over to end the powerplay and Dhawan understands this. Follows it up with a single. Agarwal is on strike now. Another good-looking drive from Mayank, but he finds the fielder again. 

OUT! Mayank is out caught at square-leg. Looked to cut viciously, but has ended up giving his wicket. Lowest powerplay score for PBKS this season.  

PBKS  29/0 after 5 overs: Finally a boundary to start this over from Santner. Follows it up with a single. Dhawan on strike now. Good shot from him towards mid-wicket. But there's a fielder there. Another good over for CSK.

PBKS 22/0 after 4 overs: The ball isn't really coming onto the bat. Shot making is looking difficult. Dhawan took a few chances in this over, but the pitch is slow. Nothing paid off. 

PBKS 15/0 after 3 overs: Santner comes into the attack and delivers a quiet over for CSK. Just 2 off the over. 

Shikhar Dhawan completes 6000 runs in IPL. What a player he has been over all these years. Just next to Virat Kohli now. Only the second man to reach there. 

PBKS 4/0 after 1 over: A couple of good looking drives from Mayank to start the over. None of them went for a boundary, though. Again, well driven by Mayank, but he finds the fielder.

Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal are at the crease. Mukesh Choudhary will start the attack for CSK. Here we go...
