PBKS vs CSK, IPL 2024 Highlights: Chennai move to 3rd on points table with a 28-run win, Punjab on the brink

Chennai Super Kings have won the the game out of nowhere, which could be crucial in their run towards the playoffs as they now have 12 points in their kitty now.

Shardul Thakur gets introduced in the 17th over and has dismissed Rahul Chahar, who tried to get funky but ended up exposing his stumps and Punjab are nine down now.

Ashutosh Sharma after surviving a simple catch drop from Moeen Ali, followed his captain Sam Curran into the pavilion in the very next over as Ravindra Jadeja got two in quick succession.

Simarjeet Singh, in his first outing of the season, was breathing fire. He rushed in Sam Curran first and then got out Jitesh, who tried to cut a ball which was too close to him and ended up handing a simple catch to MS Dhoni behind the stumps.

Mitchell Santner has gotten the well-deserved wicket after conceding just four runs in his two overs in the powerplay. He floated up in the air and pulled his length back after being hit for a boundary on full and Shashank went for his shot but didn't get the required timing and got out.

Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh have ended the powerplay on a high for Punjab Kings after a poor start. The last two overs contributed 31 and the home team have gotten the much-needed momentum.

Punjab Kings have been rattled twice early in the same over by Tushar Deshpande as Rilee Rossouw too has been cleaned up. CSK have had a fire start with the ball, which they needed after putting up what looks like an average score.

Tushar Deshpande has provided the early breakthrough for the Chennai Super Kings with the big wicket of Jonny Bairstow, who misread the pace and was beaten and saw his stumps getting shattered. Deshpande was cock-a-hoop.

Arshdeep Singh gets Ravindra Jadeja after going for a six in the final over as CSK finish with 167, which they might feel could be 15-20 runs short despite the help for the bowlers, especially the slower ones. Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar starred with three wickets each.

Harshal Patel has broken the back of the CSK's lower order sending back both Shardul Thakur and MS Dhoni in the very same over with the same dipping fuller deliveries as the former CSK skipper got out for a golden duck. CSK are eight down now.

Rahul Chahar since his comeback into the side, has been exceptional for the Punjab Kings. He is getting the zip off the surface, the ball is turning and bouncing and threw a wide one to Ruturaj Gaikwad straight after the time out and got him out caught.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell have ended the powerplay on a high for the Super Kings getting 38 runs off the last three overs, including 11 in the final one bowled by Harpreet Brar as the visitors have recovered after a slow start.

Arshdeep Singh has dismissed Ajinkya Rahane early as he got the ball to come into the batter and he hit straight to the short mid-wicket fielder as the CSK opener's poor form continues.

Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad have walked out to bat and will be looking to give CSK a good start with the bat after losing the toss.

Punjab Kings have opted to field once again after winning the toss as Ruturaj Gaikwad has lost the toss again in IPL 2024. Sam Curran reckoned that the surface was fresh and would like to see the score in front of them. 

64m and 62m boundaries on either side with a bit of help for the seamers. The boundaries are short and the wicket is fresh, so there will be a lot of runs here but there is a lot of grass and the surface is hard, so the spinners may not get much assistance. The toss may not make much of a difference since it's a day game.
