PAK vs ENG 1st Test Highlights: Pakistan end Day 1 at 328/4, Babar Azam fails again

Pakistan took ascendancy on Day 1 of the first Test against England as the visitors' inexperienced attack in the flat conditions was found wanting. Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique led the way with respective centuries with Saud Shakeel looking solid as Pakistan look to extend dominance.

PAK vs ENG 1st Test Live Score: Pakistan end Day 1 at 328/4, Babar Azam fails again

On paper, it might feel like a David vs Goliath contest since Pakistan can't seem to win a Test match at home and England can't help but save Test cricket and humanity with Bazball. However, if you dig just a bit deeper, both teams are sort of in a similar state, especially with respect to their position on the World Test Championship table. Pakistan are coming off a 2-0 series defeat and England in their most recent outing in whites, lost to Sri Lanka at home. England would have fond memories from their last tour of Pakistan in 2022 but that team was completely different, at least in the bowling department. And with no Ben Stokes, Pakistan would want to take a leaf out of Sri Lanka's book to try and corner the visitors, especially since everyone is fit and fresh for them. Should be a good contest! PAK vs ENG 1st Test pitch report

A green grassy cover on what seems like a dry surface underneath reckons Bazid Khan on air. The last Test played on this wicket was PAK vs ENG match in 2022 where Abrar Ahmed picked 11 wickets. The green tinge might assist the seamers in the first hour or the first session but Khan reckoned that the wicket will turn later and should provide for good five days of Test cricket.

Pakistan would want to start afresh

It's been more than a month since their series defeat to Bangladesh, Pakistan have all their pacers fit and fresh and would want to strike early against England, who are a bit dodgy, underprepared and without their regular skipper Ben Stokes. This is the best line-up Pakistan could have chosen and it's now time for them to produce the results.
