London, Sep 21 : Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed has reportedly quit his job after tension built up between England and Pakistan in the last few days over the match fixing allegations which has marred the series.

Saeed, however, told a television channel that he has not quit nor does he have any intentions of stepping down in the middle of the tour.

Tension had been piling up between the two countries with PCB chief Ijaz Butt accusing home players for "throwing" the third ODI in lieu of money and the matter became worse when Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz and Jonathan Trott had a public scuffle at Lord's ahead of their fourth ODI.

Tabloid 'Daily Mail' claimed Yawar's resignation comes after England s relationship with Pakistan deteriorated further yesterday when Jonathan Trott grabbed Wahab Riaz by the throat at Lord's.

"It also follows after Andrew Strauss had to be talked out of leading his players in a strike ahead of the fourth NatWest one-day international when Trott and Riaz clashed in the nets and had to be separated by England batting coach Graham Gooch," it said.

The match-fixing scandal has led to the suspension of three Pakistan cricketers -- Test captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir -- by the ICC.

The scuffle between Trott and Saeed followed the ECB's decision to complete a tour that had lost all credibility after more accusations of corruption coming out culminating to Butt's claim that England had "thrown" the third one-day game at The Oval.

Butt's inflammatory remarks "outraged" England captain Andrew Strauss who threatened to sue the PCB chief for his "irresponsible" remarks.

England players were enraged by Butt accusation so much that they held crisis talks into the early hours of yesterday before finally agreeing to play on "through gritted teeth". PTI
