Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan said his teammates would try to make the most of the first two sessions on Wednesday and post a big total to push for a victory in the first Test against Bangladesh.
Zaheer (3/54) led from the front as India bowled out the hosts for 242 and then reached 122 for one to take a 123-run lead with nine wickets in hand.
Zaheer said the idea tomorrow would be to keep up the good work tomorrow to set the hosts a stiff target.
"Lots of play left in the match. Weather permitting, there are two days left. We are looking to bat well in the first two sessions tomorrow to post a big total. Then we can think of winning the match," said Zaheer.
After India put on an unflattering 243 in their first innings, Zaheer reckoned he and his bowling colleagues had done a good job to bowl out the hosts for 242 on a batting pitch.
"It was really a good effort from the bowlers. The plan was to bowl in the right areas and be patient," Zaheer said.
"The pitch definitely helped the bowlers early on with the moisture due to the fog but it became better and better for the batsmen. So, it was a very good performance from the bowlers," Zaheer said.
He also praised junior pacers Ishant Sharma and S Sreesanth, who claimed two wickets apiece.
"It is good to see that Ishant was bowling well today. He was bowling at the right areas most of the time. It must have boosted his confidence. Sreesanth was initially not finding his rhythm. But later he got it and he bowled well," Zaheer said.
Asked if it was a wise decision to send leg-spinner Amit Mishra as a night watchman, Zaheer said, "The important thing was he scored quickly (21-ball unbeaten 24). So it does not matter if we send a specialist or not."
Zaheer was also happy with India's two-match Test series next month against South Africa and said, "It is good that we are playing four Tests on the trot. It will keep us on the Test mode."
Asked whether new bowling consultant Eric Simons would be able to make an impact during his associating with the team for just two series, Zaheer said, "He has been with us for just two days. I am hoping that he is beneficial to the team." PTI
