Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladeshi pacer who destroyed Indian batting

New Delhi: Bangladesh has registered a historic ODI series win against India. And it was Mustafizur Rahman's super display of incisive fast bowling that queered the pitch for Indian batsmen in this series. Team India's short tour of Bangladesh was seen by many as a dull and drab event asTeam India, semi finalist in the World Cup 2105, were considered to be clear favorites. Bangla Tigers were looked upon as underdogs in this series.However few would have anticipated that the three match One Day International (ODI) series would spring up such a surprise after the rain marred only Test match. The beauty of the game of Cricket is that it brings hitherto unknown playerss to limelight all of a sudden. The biggest find of the bilateral ODI series between India and Bangladesh is the lanky 19 year old pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman. He became only the second bowler after Brian Vitori to take five wickets in the first two matches of ODI that he played. The much famed Indian batting line up boasts of batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to score two double centuries in the history of One Day Internationals(ODI).Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is considered to be one of the best batsmen of this era. The team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is known for maintaining his cool temperament even in tense situations besides being the best finisher was expected to find it easy against the Bangla Tigers.However the Team failed to recover from the attacks made by the lesser known bowler, Mustafizur Rahman who bowled superbly in the couple of matches that he has played. He took 11 wickets in the two ODsI that he played against IndiaBangladesh Team which is better known for its spin bowling, surprisingly made a change and introduced four pronged pace attack in the first ODI. The Indian batsmen were left completely cluless by the slow off cutters bowled by a nineteen year old Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman.The 19 year old bowler had a dream opening to his ODI career and he became only the tenth bowler in the history of ODI cricket to capture five wickets on debut. He also became the second Bangladeshi bowler after Taskin Ahmed who also took five wickets in his ODI debut against the same opponents India. Indian batsmen have always found it hard to play against the left arm swing bowlers because of the angle produced by these bowlers.In the 1970s, it was John Lever from England, then came the Australian speedster Bruce Reid in the 1980s followed by the Pakistani left arm pace duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis and more recently the Australian Duo of Mitchell Starc and Mitchell JohnSon. The 'cutter' delivery which Mustafizur uses as his stock delivery makes the batsmen get confused and play the wrong line to get dismissed.The latest hero from Bangladesh who made his first class debut only a year ago had developed his lethal off cutters during his training for Under 19 .He said, "During my under-19 days, while practising with the national team, I used to swing the ball regularly. Anamul Haque bhai told me to try the cutter against him, and I dismissed him with that ball. From that point, I started practising it".The latest hero of the Bangladesh team took his personal performance to a notch higher after he dismissed five Indian batsmen in the first ODI and followed it by taking six Indian wickets in the second ODI.
