New Delhi: India pacer Mohammed Shami's knee injury turned out to be more serious than Delhi Daredevils made it out to be as he has been ruled out of the entire IPL cricket tournament.
Shami, who took 18 wickets in the World Cup, had problems with dodgy knee as he was rested for one game against UAE which Bhuvneshwar Kumar played.
"Shami is out of the tournament. He might have to go for operation. He should not have gone for IPL. He will take at least two months for recovery," a BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
With Zaheer Khan still sitting out, this is a major dent for Delhi's bowling line up. Shami was the second highest wicket taker for India in the World Cup.
Delhi Daredevils are next scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th April at Visakhapatnam
