Sana Mir won't accept that she is a pioneer for women's cricket in Pakistan. That title, she says, has to go to the women who fought for years for recognition from the country's cricket board, to the family that installed turf pitches on the grounds of its Karachi carpet factory to ensure access to training facilities, to the players who embarked on overseas tours at their own expense knowing they would end in heavy defeat. Sana Mir also became the first woman cricketer to receive PCB Woman cricketer of the Year Award 2013.
