Melbourne: Former Australia test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has been fined and suspended for pitch tampering during a domestic first class match between Victoria and Tasmania.
Wade, the Victoria captain, was found to have tampered with the pitch during his innings of 119 in the first innings of a match which his team won by 129 runs.
He was fined half his match fee and received two suspension points, meaning he will miss the next Sheffield Shield round.
Umpires Ian Lock and Sam Nogajski "considered the change to the pitch, which resulted in the creation of a long valley within the protected area, had been created by means other than natural wear and tear."
