Khulna (Bangladesh), Nov 23: Marlon Samuels scored 260 runs to provide the West Indies with a 177-run first innings lead over Bangladesh at stumps Friday on the third day of the second and final test.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was unbeaten on 109 with Denesh Ramdin not out on 4 at the end of the day as the West Indies cruised to 564-4 in reply to Bangladesh's first-innings total of 387.

Before lunch, Darren Bravo became the only casualty when he was trapped lbw for 127 by Sohag Gazi (2-143) to break up a 326-run, third wicket partnership with Samuels.

In the final session, Rubel Hossain (2-75) claimed Samuels, caught by Elias Sunny, intercepting him on 260 and ending the fourth-wicket stand for 177 runs.

Chanderpaul then continued and collected his total off 206 balls.

Samuels' 260 runs came off 455 balls and included 31 boundaries and three sixes.

The West Indies resumed the day on the overnight score of 241-2 with Samuels on 109 and Bravo on 85.

In the morning session, the West Indies remained undaunted and often aggressive against the Bangladeshi bowlers, who looked unimpressive as the visitors added 128 runs from 29 overs.

On Thursday, Fidel Edwards claimed 6-70 and captain Darren Sammy had 3-74 to end Bangladesh's first innings.

Bangladesh tailender Abul Hasan scored 113 on his debut and Mahmudullah collected 76.
