New Delhi: It was a poor start for Mahendra Singh Dhoni as he failed on his domestic comeback for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. India's limited overs skipper, who was playing in his first match for his state after eight years, scored only nine runs.

Elsewhere, Yuvraj Singh's blitz was not enough to rescue Punjab while defending champions Karnataka continued their poor start to the 2015/16 season.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored only nine runs on his return to domestic cricket but Jharkhand managed to beat a spirited Jammu and Kashmir by 5 runs in the opening group B league match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Batting first, Jharkhand were all out for 210 in 50 overs but then bowled well to restrict J&K to 205 for seven in 50 overs.
Dhoni, who played for his home state after eight long years, lasted 24 balls before he tried to hit 22-year-old left-arm spinner Waseem Raza and in the process was caught by Parvez Rasool.
