London: Ajinkya Rahane struck his second test century to move India out of trouble after the middle order collapsed once again. He made 103 off 154 balls which included 15 fours and 1 six to give the visitors who were left struggling at 145 for seven earn respect on a day dominated by the England seamers.
The lower batting order did it again and India survived Day 1 of second test. It have been a good third session for India; 150 runs scored in 35 overs and 3 wickets lost. That was a good fight back from Indian side. At one point when they were looking of not scoring more than 200, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rahane took India closer to 300. Ishant Sharma 12*(11) and Mohammad Shami 14*(16) are unbeaten at the end of the first day.

Earlier, India were struggling after suffering a batting collapse to take tea 140/6 on Day 1 of the second Test against England at Lord's here Thursday.
Starting the post-lunch session on 73 for two, the visitors lost 4 wickets for just 67 runs scored as Alastair Cook's decision to bowl first on a green pitch paid rich dividends.
Ajinkya Rahane (26 not out, 63 balls, 3 fours) and Stuart Binny (6 not out, 11 balls, 1 four) were battling it out at the break, as English bowlers made adjustments to their line and lengths from the morning session, earning rich dividends in the last two hours of play.
The slide started for India immediately after lunch when James Anderson (2-19) got Virat Kohli (25 runs, 34 balls, 4 fours) to nick a sharp out-swinger from good length.
Earlier, England won the toss on a green track and decided to field first against India in the second test here today. The first test of the five games series ended in a draw last week.
Both teams are playing the same side which played the last test.
