New Delhi: Indian Premier League attracts foreign players who entertain cricket crazy Indian fans to the hilt. But it's the fun loving Caribbean players who are always the centre of attraction. They have been show stoppers in almost every season of IPL and thats is why the franchisees are after them as if it is a Caribbean league not Indian league. From Chris Gayle to Sunil Narine, every West Indian in IPL has impressed the crowd with their performance and turns this league into a carnival.India TV takes a look at the Caribbean players who make the shortest form of game more compelling:CHRIS GAYLE (ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE)Chris Gayle, at his best, is devastating. He is the first player to have scored a century in international Twenty20 cricket; the only man to score seven or more tons in the Twenty20 format. In three years he has donned the RCB cap, Gayle has single-handedly won matches for them. Always hungry for runs, he may sound aggressive on the field but when it comes to celebration, he show his own way of Gangnam Style dance which we can call it as “Gaylenam Style.” In the 2012 season he shattered all boundaries, piling up agony worth 733 runs over the bowlers, scoring 160 runs per 100 balls. The next year he took the T20 world by storm with a knock of 175 in just 66 balls against Pune Warriors. He holds the record of maximum sixes in IPL (180) followed by Suresh Raina on 2nd way behind with 112 sixes. The swaggerer from Caribbean was too valuable an asset to let go for the Bengaluru-based franchise and hence he was retained ahead of the 2014 season. KIERON POLLARD (MUMBAI INDIANS)Another big hitter from West Indies who may not have performed upto the mark, but his franchisee showed faith and retained him in the auction this year. Whether you say him to bat, or bowl or field, he is the combination of all. Although he did not made much runs last season, but his activeness in the field and ability to grab stunners forced the franchisee to retain him. He scored 420 runs in 18 matches including 29 sixes at the strike rate of 149.46 and also bagged 10 wickets. DWAYNE SMITH (CHENNAI SUPER KINGS)The Caribbean all-rounder which Mumbai Indians should be regretting to lose is playing for Chennai this year. After his crucial knocks in UAE he will try to continue his form in Indian leg of IPL. Last year while playing for MI, in 11 matches he made 352 runs at the strike rate of 120.13.DARREN SAMMY (SUNRISERS HYDERABAD)The Caribbean T20 skipper who led his country to the World T20 victory in 2012 is a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad who can bowl and can turn the game around with his ability of hitting the ball out of the park. Though he was not retained this year, but the franchisee bid again for him and brought him back to the side. His impact on the Sunrisers Hyderabad's Playoffs qualification in IPL 2013 was telling. Not only did he win games, but he also won over fans with his own brand of swagger and showmanship. Expect Sammy to play a pivotal role in SRH's fortunes in IPL 2014 as well. He too is the main attraction of the crowd during celebrations. SAMUEL BADREE (RAJASTHAN ROYALS)The spin hero of West Indies T20 campaign in Bangladesh is playing for CSK this year. Last year he was with Rajasthan Royals where he got to play only one match. After his recent World T20 performance, RR must be thinking that they did a big mistake! SUNIL NARINE (KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS)This ‘mystery spinner' from the Caribbean took IPL 2012 by storm and terrorized batsmen across all teams with his unique spin skills. Picked up by KKR after a successful 2011 CLT20 for Trinidad & Tobago, Narine finished IPL 2012 as the Player of the Tournament with 24 wickets at a miserly 5.47 runs per over. Narine was the single most prominent reason for KKR's IPL triumph and was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2014 Player Auction. If KKR had put a low total, don't worry Narine is there to bowl!
