"Had it not been for that hit in the testicles, I wouldn't have had any idea," he said.
"It was just fate (because) if I didn't get hit, it could have gone on for months and I would not have known what was happening."
The cancer beaten, Wade resumed his twin sporting passions of cricket and football, but not with the same zeal he'd had before as learnt the values of family, mates and just "enjoying life".
