MIRPUR, Bangladesh: The International Cricket Council says its World Twenty20 event technical committee has approved England batsman Craig Kieswetter as a replacement for injured allrounder Luke Wright.
A statement from the world body hours ahead of England's opening game against New Zealand in Chittagong on Saturday said Wright had been ruled out of the tournament due to a side strain.
Wright is the third England player to be ruled out of the World Twenty20 after Joe Root and Ben Stokes, who suffered hand injuries.
Kieswetter played the last of his 25 Twenty20 internationals against New Zealand at the last World Twenty20 at Pallekele in Sri Lankan in 2012 and has scored 526 runs at a strike rate of 112.
