New Delhi, May 24: Sharad Pawar's NCP today demanded resignation of BCCI chief N Srinivasan after his son-in-law's name figured in the investigations into the IPL spot fixing scandal.
“If Mr Srinivasan has any iota of morality and public accountability then he should immediately tender his resignation,” NCP chief spokesman D P Tripathi told reporters here.
He said Srinivasan was under the shadow of doubt after his son-in-law was summoned for questioning in connection with the spot fixing issue.
“Therefore, I think, till the investigations are completed, Srinivasan should resign forthwith,” he said.
Tripathi, a Rajya Sabha member, also demanded that the enact tough laws to deal with those involved in match fixing with provisions for a 10-year jail term for a guilty sportsperson and seizure of his assets.
“The player has made these assets and money through cricket and he has committed a fraud with the people who follow the game,” he said.
