An Indian top-order batter, left-hander preferably, a middle-order overseas hitter and pacers, a lot of them. RCB have the biggest purse with the signings of Jitesh Sharma, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone, their middle order is set.                                                                                                                                      

It wasn't a surprise that Chennai Super Kings did the most efficient bidding once again, no surprises as the Men in Yellow got back a couple of their Kiwi stars in Devon Conway (Rs 6.25 crore) and Rachin Ravindra (Rs 4 crore) and added a couple of handy options in Rahul Tripathi (INR 3.4 crore) and Vijay Shankar (INR 1.2 crore) at bargain rates. The biggest bid came from CSK for the Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad for whom they doubled the amount when the Titans were in to RTM him. Among other purchases, it was a homecoming for R Ashwin as well, as the senior off-spinner returned to the side after 10 years even if they had to overpay for him at INR 9.75 crore.

It was a pay day and some for the Indian cricketers, especially with all top five purchases being the local cricketers as the franchises poured their heart out in the form of cash, splashed left, right and centre in Jeddah on Sunday. Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 crore, LSG), Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crore, PBKS), Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 23.75 crore, KKR), Arshdeep Singh (Rs 18 crore, PBKS) and Yuzvendra Chahal (Rs 18 crore, PBKS) were the top five most expensive players on the first day of the mega auction.

There are several Indian stars in action today. Washington Sundar, Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Mukesh Kumar among others are expected to draw plenty of bids.
