New Delhi: The cash rich and the biggest cricket extravaganza Indian Premier League 2014 will be concluded in one day as Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab are ready to take on each other in the big final on Sunday.From Maxwell's show to the quickest team century, the tournament has produced some scintillating cricket this year. We bring you those breathtaking nine records shattered in IPL 7:1) Fastest half centuryYusuf Pathan registered the fastest fifty in IPL history in just 15 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad on his way to a thunderous 72 from 22 deliveries. Pathan's heroics continued Kolkata's blistering form to propel them above the Chennai Super Kings and into second place on the points table. Earlier Adam Gilchrist had the record in 17 balls for Deccan Chargers against Delhi Daredevils in 2009.2) Lowest net-run rate Delhi Daredevils completed this year IPL journey with another lowest position in the points table from last year. They completed the worst season in IPL history in 2014. Prior to this year's event, no team had ever recorded an overall net run rate below minus-1.160 but DD in the leadership of Kevin Pietersen this year, won just two wins from 14 matches at a net run rate of minus-1.182.3) Highest 4th Wicket partnershipBangalore's star-studded middle order was expected to elevate Virat Kohli's side into the upper reaches of the IPL points table in 2014. Unfortunately, things didn't transpire that way. But in one of the few games in which the team's batting powerhouses took over, Yuvraj Singh and AB de Villiers combined to set a record fourth-wicket partnership in the IPL.With a 132-run stand against the Rajasthan Royals, the pair surpassed the previous mark of 131, set by De Villiers in conjunction with Chris Gayle in 2012.4) Highest 8th Wicket PartnershipThe best mark for an eighth-wicket partnership in the IPL also tumbled in 2014. In a lower-order fightback, Brad Hodge and James Faulkner combined for a rapid 69-run stand against the Mumbai Indians in the 44th match of the tournament but the Australian pair were unable to haul their side to victory. The record (53) was previously held by Harbhajan Singh and Ryan McLaren of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2010.5) Most consecutive ducksKolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir set a new and unique record for consecutive ducks in the IPL. At the top of his team's order, the left-hander registered three scoreless innings on the trot against Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore in first three games this year. 6) Highest run rate in any IPL inningsChasing Rajasthan's 189-4, Rohit Sharma's men thumped their way to 195-5 in just 14.4 overs to snatch fourth place on net run rate from the Royals. In doing so, Mumbai chased down the target at 13.29 runs per over—the highest figure ever recorded for an IPL innings exceeding 10 overs. Corey Anderson showed his worth after playing an innings of 95 off 44 balls that took Mumbai through to the playoffs. The previous mark of 13.15 was set by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 when Chris Gayle smashed 175 to steer his team to a total of 263 in 20 overs. 7) Most consecutive 40+ scoresKolkata's Robin Uthappa has been on an incredible run of form in this season's IPL. Since May 2, the stylish right-hander has put together 10 consecutive 40-plus scores to launch his surging team into the tournament's final. Prior to this tournament, no one had put together more than five straight scores of 40 or more in the IPL's history. In Twenty20 cricket as a whole, HD Ackerman's string of six such innings was the previous world record. He also became the highest Indian run getter in any IPL season so far with 655 runs in 15 matches. The record was previously held by Sachin Tendulkar who scored 618 runs in IPL 2010 and that too in 15 matches.8) Most runs in an overCSK's flamboyant batsman Suresh Raina hit record 33 runs in an over with five boundaries and two sixes (including a no-ball) off Parvinder Awana in the qualifier 2 against Kings XI Punjab. He scored 87 runs off 25 balls and no-doubt if he had continued playing, he would have made the fastest century in world cricket also. Earlier the record was held by Chris Gayle who hit 28 runs in an over last year against Pune Warriors with four sixes and one boundary.9) Fastest team 100In the second qualifier of IPL this year, while chasing a daunting target of 227 runs posted by Kings XI Punjab batsmen, CSK's Suresh Raina took over the responsibility to take the team through to the finals. With his 33 runs in one over against Parvinder Awana, CSK completed their 100 runs in just 6 overs. This is a record in itself in IPL history. However, his innings could not help the team to win the match and they lost by 24 runs.Earlier, the record was held by Kings XI Punjab who scored 100 in 7.3 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL this year.
