IPL 7: Know why Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, have become laggards?

New Delhi: The defending champions Mumbai Indians is having a harrowing time in UAE at in IPL 7 as they have lost all the four games that they have played till now.The batting line up of the Mumbai Indians seems to have lost its old zing and the players sitting in the dug out looks like having more caliber than those who are playing in the field. Their batting woes can be summed up in one fact: only once in their four games have MI scored more than 130. Rohit Sharma , the skipper of the team can be dangerous but he is showing signs of inconsistency .In the four matches , Rohit has just scored 83 runs at an average of 20.75 having a strike rate of 116.90Ambati Rayudu looks like he has lost his way and that is evident if we look at his performance–333 runs at a strike-rate of 132.14 in 2012, 265 runs at the strike rate of 114.71 in 2013 and 98 runs at the strike rate of 98.00 in the ongoing present edition.Michael Hussey, who was brought by Mumbai franchise at this year player's auction. Hussey who was brought as an experienced campaigner to replace the great legend Sachin Tendulkar. It could be his final outing in IPL if he does not prove his worth in the team. He is having a horrible run as he has scored just 30 runs with an average in single digit of 7.50 and a strike rate of 56.60Kieron Pollard ,the player who was seen to be an impact player in the Mumbai team has simply failed to live up to the billing. The cricket pundits have been saying that Pollard is not being utilized fully to his potential. He has played all the four games in IPL 2014 has just scored 54 runs at a strike rate of 96.42 which is much below by his standards.Corey Anderson, the Kiwi allrounder who joined the Mumbai Indians team after his heroics with the bat in New Zealand have till now did not played , as was expected from him. In the four matches he has scored a total of 72 runs with the highest being 39 runs at a strike rate of 100.The bowling unit also look to be in disarray like their batting unit.Ojha ended up with 16 wickets last year but he has just one wicket this year in four matches. Harbhajan Singh has two wickets and he had 24 last year. Zaheer Khan has three wickets but as skillful as he is, no one is afraid of him anymore.
