IPL 7: Kings XI Punjab, the team with an unique record

New Delhi: The team which has been grabbing the headlines in the seventh edition of Indian Premiere League is Preity Zinta's co-owned Kings XI Punjab. The team which has remained unbeaten in the UAE leg of IPL 7 has made a unique record in the tournament.Kings XI Punjab has became the first team in IPL to record eight consecutive wins on a trot , the highest by any IPL team.. The team had maintained this record over two seasons of IPL. Punjab had won the last three league games of IPL in 2013 and winning all the five matches till now in IPL 2014. Let's take a look on the incredible journey that the team Punjab had from IPL 2013. The journey started when the Kings XI defeated the star studded Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets. The hero of the match was David Miler who scored 101 not out from just 54 ball thus helping his team overcome a huge total of 190 runs set by the Bangalore team.It was the 67th match of IPL in 2013 in which once again the hero was the South African hard hitter David Miller who scored an 41 ball 44 runs and helped his team post a total of 171 runs. Punjab won the match by restricting the Daredevils from Delhi at 164 runs.It was in the 69th match of IPL 2013 in which the Mumbai Indians were challenging the boys of Punjab. Kings XI Punjab batted first a made a respectable total of 183 runs in which Azhar Mahmood played a whirlwind innings of 80 runs made from just 44 balls. Mumbai Indians were restricted at just 133 runs which meant that the Punjab team won the match by 50 runs.It was only the third match of IPL 2014 which was played at UAE in which the team Punjab looked like they have carried the form of the last three matches of IPL 2013. Chennai Super Kings posted a total of 205 runs which looked like a winning total until Punjab's latest Australian recruit Glenn Maxwell played an innings of 95 runs from 43 balls and helping his team to overcome the total set by team Chennai.The form of the Punjab team continued in the second match of the edition where the Punjab team overhauled the target of 192 runs with eight balls to spare and the hero of the match was once again Glenn Maxwell who played a breezy innings of 89 runs.The next time to face the marauding Punjab was the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They were defeated by 72 runs. Batting first Kings XI Punjab scored 193 runs , thanks once again mainly to a knock of 95 runs played by Glenn Maxwell, who continued his good form and was unlucky to miss the century by just five runs. The Hyderabad boys were able to score just 121 runs and also lost the match.Kings XI Punjab now faced the ‘Gambhir' boys from Kolkata and in a long time the batting of Punjab did not clicked and were bowled out for just 132 runs. It was looking as if team Kolkata is going to achive this target easily but Punjab and young pacer Sandeep Sharma had other ideas. The rookie took three wickets by giving away just 21 runs and helped his team achieve the seventh win on a trot.It was once the Punjab bowlers who first restricted the powerful Bangalore batting line up for a below par score , thanks mainly to Sandeep Singh and then a controlled batting approach by the batsman from Punjab helped them beat the Kohli –led side by five wickets.
