IPL retention day highlights: Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians on cards again, RCB trade Cameron Green?

Reports are coming from RCB camp. Royal Challengers Bangalore have traded in Australian all-rounder Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians.

Cricbuzz reports that Hardik Pandya has been signed by Mumbai Indians in all-cash deal. That is INR 15 crore for an year.

SRH have the biggest purse in the teams that have announced their retentions so far. They have 34 Crore with them. Harry Brook has given them 13.25 Crore. They have only six slots left to be filled as they have 19 players. This means SRH can go behind big guns in the auction.

SRH have also confirmed their list now. They have retained 18 players and have Shabaz as trade from RCB, which makes it 19 in the current squad. Six players including Harry Brook have been released. This is excluding Mayank Dagar, who is traded.

KKR have made a massive overhaul in their squad. They have retained only 13 players and have released as many as 12 players. Shardul, Ferguson, Shakib and Litton Das among others have been released. Did we see this coming?

RCB will not be announcing the retention list before 6 PM, the franchise has confirmed on X. "Some of these special men will not be part of our squad after today, but they’ll always remain in our hearts! Rentention announcement at 6 PM," RCB wrote on X.

PBKS are the next one now. They have released just five players including Shahrukh Khan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Big news: Sam Curran has been retained.

KL Rahul has been retained by LSG. They published a post on X to confirm this. They wrote Rahul's name in a photo and said "Continue karo" in caption.

LSG have reportedly decided to 8-9 players in the retention list announcement. According to Cricbuzz, Manan Vohra, Suryansh Shedge, Karan Sharma and Swapnil Singh are set to be released. It adds a couple of foreign players will also be released.

SRH traded Mayank Dagar with RCB's Shahbaz Ahmed. "Dynamic left handed All-rounder Shahbaz Ahamad will now don the Orange Armour. Mayank Dagar moves to RCB. Wishing him all the best for his future endeavours," SRH wrote on Twitter.

The biggest one is the potential trade of Hardik Pandya. He is reportedly set to go back to Mumbai Indians for INR 15 Crore plus transfer fee in cash.

"Yes, I can confirm that there has been talks of Hardik going to MI. There remains a chance that he might switch sides but at this moment, nothing more can be confirmed as of now as the deal is yet to be signed," an IPL source in GT said to PTI.

There are several reports doing the rounds on players being released by their franchises. It is being said that KKR will be looking to release Shardul Thakur. It is being reported that DC are releasing Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey

England star Joe Root will not be part of IPL 2024 as he has opted out from the upcoming season. "England batter Joe Root will not be taking any further participation in the IPL, it was confirmed on Saturday," RR confirmed in a press release on Saturday.

If the Hardik Pandya's trade is materialised, GT will have to ponder upon a captain. There can be 5 possible candidates anyhow. There is also a T20 World Cup winner on the list. Check GT's captaincy options here

He will not be playing in the IPL 2024 and CSK have backed the decision but will they look to retain him for this season so that they can retain him again at the 2025 mega auctions? The third official trade was confirmed by IPL today morning. RCB's Shahbaz Ahmed goes to SRH, Mayank Dagar from SRH comes to RCB in a swap deal.

IPL trade is a period where teams have the option to trade players from other franchises. The teams can do this in two ways: By swapping their own player for the one they wants, or by trading the player for cash. The potential Pandya trade is reportedly the second one. There are reports in the media that Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya is set to be traded to Mumbai Indians. The deal is said to be on his original fee of INR 15 Crore plus a transfer fee that MI will be paying to GT. Hardik will reportedly stand to earn 50% of that amount too.
