LSG vs DC IPL 2024 Highlights: Jake Fraser-McGurk and Kuldeep Yadav shine in Delhi's win over Lucknow

Kuldeep is adjourned player of the match for his brilliant show with the ball. He got the wickets of Stoinis and Pooran on consecutive deliveries and then he dismissed well-set KL Rahul. His wickets in the middle overs helped Delhi restrict Lucknow to 167 runs only.

Kuldeep Yadav | Player of the Match: Was tough when I wasn't fit. Got injured first game and was difficult to see the team struggling in the middle overs. Credit goes to Patrick to maintain my fitness and get me ready quickly. All three were important wickets, it was crucial to get wickets in the middle overs to control the run rate. I liked the first and second wicket, I have played a lot against Pooran and the execution for that was right. I was clear with my plans, just the length matters for me as a spinner. Very clear and confident with my skills. Whenever I feel the DRS call is 50/50, I try to push for it but when it is more 60/40 then I tend to listen to Rishabh. As a bowler, you obviously want to take the DRS whevever possible. We've got 2 reviews, so obviously one is for me (laughs off).

Rishabh Pant: Little relief, we wanted a win badly. I was talking to the boys saying we need to think like champions, we need to keep fighting hard. We have phases where we are not up to the mark, some individuals have to take responsibility for that. However, we stick together as a group. Some things you can control, some things we can't. I think we are getting closer to the right XI, but we've had so many injuries in this group. However, you can't keep complaining about that. Hopefully, we've found our new number 3, haven't thought too much about it. Hope he can continue.

KL Rahul: If I want to be harsh, I think we were 15-20 runs short, we got off to a good start, we could have capitalised and got 180. There was a bit of help for the seamers, the odd ball kept low. Kuldeep made its use (and got those wickets.) The new guys when they come in, it's pretty unknown for us. He (Jake Fraser-McGurk) hit the ball well, credit to him. We always walk in with the same mindset, want to hit the right areas. We got Warner in the powerplay, got a couple of wickets after the powerplay. The set batters - Pant and McGurk took the game away from us after that dropped catch. We travel tomorrow and play an afternoon game (on Sunday). That's how the schedule goes, need to turn up, could be tough during Indian summers. In hindsight you can always wonder you could have done something different. There wasn't much spin after Axar's over, so I thought Pooran could have put some pressure on the opposition, if he was set. He would have been dangerous, but credit to Kuldeep for getting him out. He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don't want to rush him. We need to protect his body, he's itching to go. Need to make sure that he's hundred percent (fit) before he comes back.

With today's win, Delhi Capitals move up a place as they move from 10th to 9th position in the points table. LSG slips one place and now sits in 4th position after today's defeat.

Delhi Capitals have registered their first win against LSG in IPL's history. They have won this contest by 6 wickets with 11 balls remaining. This is the first instant Lucknow have lost a game where they have made more 160+ score while batting first. 

Rahul brings Bishnoi back into the attack and he strikes immediately. Pant departs as he gets stumed out on Bishnoi's delivery. He is dismissed after making 41 runs in just 24 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Jake Fraser-McGurk departs as he gets caught out on Naveen ul-Haq's delivery. He gets out after a brilliant innings as he scored 55 runs in 35 balls and it came at a time when his team needed this innings the most. DC need 23 runs in the last 5 overs.

Jake Fraser-McGurk hits his first 50 for Delhi Capitals in his debut match in IPL. He completes his half-century in 31 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes.

Jake Fraser-McGurk has taken Krunal Pandya to the cleaners. He hit him for three consecutive sixes. DC is in complete control.

Delhi captain Rishabh Pant is looking in good touch as he manages to score 29 runs in just 18 balls. DC also brings their 100 runs inside 15 overs. Delhi Capitals need 67 runs in 48 balls.

Badoni and Arshad Khan's partnership guides LSG to a score above 150 as they were down 7 wickets for just 94 runs. Badoni scored 55 runs in 35 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. For Delhi, Kulddep was the star with the ball as he took 3 wickets while Khaleel Ahmed got 2, Ishant and Mukesh got 1 apiece. Sunil Gavaskar: We are in the land of the Super Giants, one thing we have got here is a giant boundary - 73 meters on one side and that's lot bigger than normal, 80 meters in the corner/pockets, other side is 66 meters. As a bowler you will be so happy to see such an expansive field," says an ecstatic Graeme Swann. "This ground has some of the longest boundaries and that's what you want to see with the kind of power that the batters exhume nowadays. As a spinner I don't think you would like this pitch as there's lot more grass on this surface. Grass being left on the pitches now to ensure they don't crumble and also because India have discovered so many new fast bowlers. All of them are making the ball fly. Every team are encouraging the groundsman to put a little more grass. The ball will come on to the bat nicely and if you are a good player, you can make use of the pace and bang the ball around. We can see lot more runs despite the big boundaries,

Nicholas Pooran: It's going nicely so far, most important is my contribution for the team, trying our best to win games. My job is to continue playing according to situations. The key to power hitting I believe is all about hardwork. It's taken me a few years, since the age of 20 I started to focus on my power hitting. Just trying to figure out what is the right position, what I am comfortable with. The key is also the head position, head going towards the ball, transfering the weight as well is important. The key to T20 batting is a bit different, it's a short game and you got to score quickly. It's more about trying to understand the game situation, trusting your skills, trusting your game and decision making. Understanding what you have to do, when you have to do. There will be days when a bowler is bowling well and you won't be able to take him down, but the same bowler on some other day, you might be able to take him. You need to execute in different situations. Lucknow is a big venue, setting a total is challenging when one side is big, one side is small. You can shut down one side completely. There are different venues in India, there are a few small grounds as well. For us it has been brilliant in Lucknow, this is our home and we need to be the best team here at home.

At the bottom of the table sits the Delhi Capitals, eager to kickstart their momentum. The comeback of their Captain and star player, Rishabh Pant, has lifted the spirits of Delhi fans. Additionally, Tristian Stubbs' impressive performance is a boost for the DC team. However, they must bring their A-game in this match to secure a victory against an opponent they have historically struggled against.

Lucknow Super Giants are coming into this game with momentum on their side. They started the tournament on a slower note with a defeat but bounced back with 3 consecutive wins. Mayank Yadav has grabbed all the eyeballs this season but he misses this game as he got injured in the match against GT.
