The bowlers and pair of KS Bharat and Glenn Maxwell helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secure another comfortable win as they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday. Rajasthan remain at the seventh spot with playoff hopes far from likely, although mathematically still a possibility. They have three more matches to go, victories in which, by superior margins, will hand them a total of 14 points, but would also require Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) to lose all their remaining games.
"We don't have anything to lose and that gives a lot of freedom to go out and express ourselves. Funny things can happen in IPL, we need to keep believing till the last match we play," said Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson after the match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Bangalore have created a bit of a cushion for themselves with that seven-wicket win, their seventh victory in the season which places them four points clear of the next best-placed team, Kolkata. This is also the most number of wins RCB have secured in a single IPL season in the league stage, which places them in a comfortable position for a second consecutive appearance in the playoffs.
"Everything is coming along nicely and people are making contributions at the right time. We were blown away in game one, we took it as a positive. You need to be up with the pace in this tournament. We are getting into the groove at right stage of the tournament," said Bangalore captain Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation.
