Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been ruled out of the remaining two test matches against New Zealand after fracturing his skull during the first test.
Team manager Moin Khan says Shehzad will fly home later on Tuesday and has been advised to take "a minimum rest of three weeks."
Shehzad's minor fracture does not require surgery and can be managed with painkillers and muscle relaxants.
He was struck by a short delivery from Corey Anderson and was out hit wicket after scoring a career-best 176 in eight hours in Pakistan's total of 566-3 declared on Monday.
Pakistan has backup opening batsmen Shan Masood and Taufiq Umar available for the remaining test matches.
