Excellent display of fightback by South Africa as they level the series 1-1 after beating India in the second Test by 7 wickets. 

Dean Elgar continues to dominate - South Africa 194/3 in 61 overs

Elgar is playing a gem of an innings here as South Africa moving in the right direction to level the series. He is batting on 73 off 173 balls. India are bowling Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur. Batting at number five, Temba Bavuma is also looking in good touch. Everything is going in SA's favour at the moment. 

Shami provides breakthrough - South Africa 176/3 in 55 overs

India finally gets the first wicket of the day as Shami removes van der Dussen for 40. Shami bowls an effort ball, it hits the deck and seems away from the batter. Pujara takes an easy catch at first slip. India need seven more wickets while South Africa need 64 runs. 

South Africa cruising towards win

Dean Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen have stiched South Africa's highest partnership of this series. This was the kind of effort which was needed to win this Test. South Africa are scoring a run rate over 8 now, they are hurry to win this Test. 

Shami replaces Ashwin

South Africa 134/2 in 44 overs South Africa captain Dean Elgar is playing captain's knock here as he completes his fifty. The hosts want him to continue to build on his innings while Indian bowlers are bowling stump to stump. 

So it's pace from one end and spin from the other as R Ashwin comes out to bowl the second over of the day for Team India. Shami could have been a better option looking at the overcast conditions. Let's see how it works. 

South Africa batsmen Dean Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen are back on the crease. Both the batters will aim to continue on the same lines as they finished on Day 3 while India's Jasprit Bumrah will kick start the proceedings for the visitors. India need to make the most of the first hour of the play.

  • First two sessions were washed out due to rain as umpires decide to take early tea. 
  • We have some good news, the rain has stopped. The rain break is like a blessing in disguise for the Indian bowlers as they got extra time to rest.
