IND vs AUS 4th Test Highlights: Australia snatch momentum, Lyon-Boland stay unbeaten to frustrate India

The lead is 333 for Australia and India haven't been able to breach the final partnership, which has now lasted for more than 50 runs and in excess of 100 deliveries. Lyon remained unbeaten on 41 and Scott Boland on 10 as Australia have tried to wipe out any chances of India win rather than winning themselves, which could still be possible but it will take a huge final innings bowling effort from the hosts to push for that.

Jasprit Bumrah had his fifer until he didn't. Bumrah after more than 15 overs of frustration had finally induced an outside edge off Nathan Lyon, it carried to the slips, slipped out of KL Rahul's hands but stuck between his legs and somehow, India were able to hold on to it. But Michael Gough pulled his right arm to signal the no-ball and all of India alongside the players gasped together as Lyon survived.

The Australian tail is wagging and has wagged a bit too much as they have taken Australia's score beyond 200 and the lead in excess of 300. Both Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland haven't dropped their guard and Indians are looking a slight bit frustrated.

The frustrating 17-run partnership, which took six overs, has finally come to an end as Ravindra Jadeja has broken through. Jadeja came back for a new spell and induced an outside edge from Pat Cummins straight to the skipper Rohit Sharma at slips. India one wicket away from knowing their target to chase down.

India have done well with the ball in the second innings but have lacked the killer punch. Again, another partnership has started to take shape as Australia's lead has stretched beyond 270.

Rishabh Pant runs Mitchell Starc out. Australia are eight down for 158.

Mohammed Siraj gets the big wicket of Marnus Labuschagne. Marnus goes after scoring 70, Australia are 148/7.

Australia's lead is now 253 runs.

Marnus and Pat Cummins have added 50 runs for the seventh wicket. Australia are 141/6 and lead by 246.

The play has resumed after tea and Jasprit Bumrah has the ball in hand.

The tea has been taken and Australia have overcome the Bumrah horrors to get through to tea with Labuschagne and Cummins in the middle. The lead has gotten to 240 and India might be feeling jittery with a couple of dropped chances and a few missed chances. India still have four wickets to take.

Marnus Labuschagne is living a rather charmed life on Day 4 of the Melbourne Test as he has had a dropped chance, numerous plays and misses and an almost chopped down. The Frano Selak of Australian cricket has taken his side forward and India are feeling a bit of pressure.

Jasprit Bumrah rattles Alex Carey's stumps to leave Australia reeling. Australia are 91/6.

Mitchell Marsh departs now, India are running through Australia, rather Jasprit Bumrah is running through. Australia have lost half their side and the leader hasn't even crossed 200.

Bumrah has got Travis Head's number it seems. Head was preparing for a top of off delivery from Bumrah after getting off the pair but the Indian vice-captain bowled a shortish delivery which the batter failed to cover for, got a tame poke towards the square leg fielder and India are cock-a-hoop.

After a boundary in the last over, India could sense that Smith and Labuschagne were looking to get some quick runs. Siraj dangled the carrot by throwing it wide, Steve Smith chased it and got a healthy edge towards the keeper. The gritty partnership has been broken finally. 

It will be interesting to see Australia's approach in the second session as to whether they want to have a bowl at India today itself and if they do, how much target are they thinking of to set - 320, 350, 400? And if they do, they will have to score at least 200 runs in 45-50 overs before being able to bowl at India for 10-12 overs. Should be an interesting passage of play...

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have survived the tough passage of play against the Indian pacers to go unscathed into lunch break. Indian pacers were really probing and unlucky as they could have easily had a couple of more wickets with the amount of plays and misses but as it stands, Australia are 158 runs ahead with eight wickets in hand, scoring 53 of them in the second innings with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj taking a wicket each.

Australian batters have been iffy and have looked susceptible to the zing and zip of Indian pacers. They have been lucky on occasions and since the ball is now keeping on the lower side, they have to be a bit more proactive in terms of scoring if Australia plan on having a go at India on Day 4 itself.

Mohammed Siraj get through the deadlock! A fuller ball and Usman Khawaja didn't move his feet while looking for a drive. The ball saw the gap and sneaked past Khawaja's defence through the open space and India have their second wicket. Siraj is pumped as he should be. Indian players are fired up, they smell the blood.

Indian bowlers have been terribly unlucky in terms of rewards. So many plays and misses in the first 6-7 overs but the luck has not been with India. Also, Jasprit Bumrah just continues to be outlier for India with basically no support from the other end.

It almost feels like India are ready to do everything to get this third innings with the ball right and rightfully, Virat Kohli is calling the shots. Kohli is advising Rohit on the tactics and the field setting while also talking to the bowlers as India look charged up from the get-go. Can India get a few wickets early? One has already come and should be aiming for a couple of more before lunch.

Team India could add only 11 runs to their overnight score as Nathan Lyon got the final wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who ended up adding nine runs to his own score to end up with 114 runs. India would have liked to add a few more but still, it's a major sort of fightback for the visitors to be in this position.

Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 114 off 189 balls before getting out to Nathan Lyon. Mohammed Siraj remained unbeaten on four.
