IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live Cricket Score: Australia cross 200, in cruise mode riding on Head, Steve Smith's fifties

It was a disappointing day for the fans, the viewers around the world, the players and both the teams as only 13.2 overs of play was possible on the opening day of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, December 14. With so much water lashing the pitch and the outfield, the Indian team will hope for the moisture to come in handy as the visitors run in to get those 20 wickets after Australia made a steady start with the bat. There wasn't much swing on offer but that might change on Day 2 with Australia aiming to find their rhythm back and then dominate. IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: A fighting fifty for Steve Smith

It has been one scratchy knock from Steve Smith, a totally opposite half-century from the one that Travis Head has played but he is still there and that's what matters for Australia. India are being slowly bullied out of the game by this pair of Smith and Head.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Head with another fifty against India

Travis Head must be feeling like an invincible when he comes to bat against an Indian team led by Rohit Sharma. India just look clueless against Head again and again. If one batter keeps on scoring runs again and again against you, there's a massive problem in the plans from the bowlers and the captain as the left-hander races to another fifty.

    150 up!

Australia have gone past 150. Travis Head (49) and Steve Smith (42) are going strong. Australia are 153/3.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Lot of plays and misses but no success

It almost seems like God is miffed with Akash Deep for some unknown reason because the pacer might have bowled the best spell by an Indian pacer without a wicket. The 50th over of the innings from Akash Deep to Steve Smith was probably his most probing and the most challenging for the Australian batter but he just didn't take the edge. India still searching for the breakthrough to end this partnership.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Players are back and India's first target will be to break this partnership

Steve Smith and Travis Head, both have had hits and misses, ifs and buts through their innings so far but have been solid and breaking their stand will be on the Indian bowlers' minds as the post-lunch session begins at the Gabba.

Australia score 76/3 in first session on Day 2

A very good session from the Indian bowlers to strike back into the game after what was a wayward 13 overs of bowling on Day 1. India were able to get three wickets with Bumrah being the star again, no surprises. Steve Smith and Travis Head are in the middle for Australia and the big talking point for India in the break will be to break this partnership immediately after lunch. Can they? But yeah, this has been a positive start from India on Day 2.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Australia cross 100

Mohammed Siraj is back on the field and Australia have gotten past the 100 mark. Steve Smith has somehow been able to get through the tough period and is now looking much more solid and relaxed in the middle while Travis Head has had hits and misses with Bumrah back in the attack for India. Can India get one more before lunch?

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Siraj walks off...

Hopefully for India, it is not a serious blow and just precautionary as Mohammed Siraj after clutching his left hamstring has left the field. Siraj didn't look comfortable after bowling the second delivery of the 37th over, he has walked off and India will hope that he can come back to bowl at some stage, especially since they don't want to overbowl Jasprit Bumrah. Akash Deep will complete the over.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Finally the WICKET!! Reddy strikes

Nitish Reddy has gotten India the big breakthrough! Indian bowlers and fielders had started getting twitchy as both Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were getting into their innings and the irritating stand has ended. Reddy bowled full and wide and invited Labuschagne into the drive and Virat Kohli took a splendid grab in the second slip. India have gotten a huge wicket.

    Australia - 75/3 (34 overs)

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Smith and Labushagne have been really watchful

It has been a quiet period of play with just 11 runs being scored in the last six overs. Steve Smith has settled down a bit after an itchy start while Labuschagne has had his share of oohs and aahs but hasn't let India come into the game. Mohammed Siraj has been introduced into the attack and has certainly been better from what he was on the first day.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Australia go past 50

Akash Deep has beaten the edge on quite a few occasions but hasn't gotten the success yet. Another edge off Steve Smith's bat but goes in the gap between the slips and gully for a boundary and Australia's score goes past the 50 mark.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: Steve Smith looks a bit tentative

Steve Smith is shuffling across the stumps a lot and almost had a repeat of the Adelaide dismissal as he got an edge on the leg side but it was wide of Rishabh Pant. Bumrah instantly had a leg slip for Smith, who is taking LBW out of the equation. Should be a great contest with Bumrah having his tails up.

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: WICKET!! Another one for Bumrah

Bumrah is making the ball talk and how! After Khawaja, Bumrah has his opening partner McSweeney as well with a corker of a delivery, angling in and the right-hander failed to cover the line and handed a simple catch to Virat Kohli in slips.

  • 5:41 AM (IST) Posted by Anshul Gupta

India will hope to stay in that channel to get wickets consistently

IND vs AUS 3rd Test Live: WICKET!! Bumrah strikes

Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah have been probing early morning on Sunday. They have made the batters play and Bumrah has struck inducing Khawaja's outside edge straight into the keeper's gloves. India have their breakthrough and Khawaja's fight is over. Who else but Bumrah for India?

  • 5:38 AM (IST) Posted by Anshul Gupta

Here we go! The Australian openers are in the middle and we are good to go

Akash Deep has the ball in his hand as he will complete his over with four balls remaining and the Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney are in the middle. India aim for wickets, that too quickly while Australia look for a wicketless first hour.

    Pitch for Day 2?

With the sun shining bright, the wicket should settle down a bit, however, with the rain all day on Saturday, there will be a bit of moisture underneath. If the sun shines for most of the day, the wicket will get better to bat on, hence, the first hour and the first session will be key for the Indian team, if they have to get into the Australian middle-order. The patchy grass cover will always have the bowlers in play and India will hope to get their batting today but it will be hard work.

    What's the weather like?

There are a couple of late showers expected at some point in the day from the east of the Gabba in Brisbane, however, for now, it is bright and sunny. The play will start on time at 9:50 AM local time (5:20 AM IST) and we should be able to get most of the 98.4 overs if not all. Let's hope it stays as it is for the whole day.

No swing or not good bowling?

Jasprit Bumrah expressed his frustration rather evidently on the stump mic when he was caught saying, 'it's not swinging from anywhere'. After a wayward first little session of six overs, the Indian bowlers came back well after the first rain break, hitting the top of off more often and bowling a little fuller, which should be the length at this venue.

Day 2 of the third Test between India and Australia and hopefully, a lot more of play

Welcome to our live coverage of the second day of the third Test between India and Australia from Gabba. It was a disappointing day for everyone involved with just 13.2 overs of play being possible on Day 1. The forecast is better for the sophomore day and the players and umpires will want and attempt to get maximum number of overs in.
