India 23 team won the inaugural edition of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup by beating Pakistan in the final in Singapore in 2013 but that was India's only triumph in five editions of the tournament.

Pakistan are the defending champions as they won the previous two editions in 2023 and 2019. Sri Lanka won the remaining two editions of the tournaments in 2017 and 2018.

The first 5 editions were played in 50-over cricket and 2024 is the first 20-over edition of this tournament. 

Both teams last faced each other in this tournament during the 2023 final (50-over) in Colombo.

Pakistan registered a huge 128-run win while defending 352 runs under Mohammad Haris' leadership.
