IND vs WI 1st Test Day 1 Highlights: India end Day 1 at 80/0 and in complete control of the first Test
IND vs WI Live 1st Test Day 1: Team India began their campaign in the third edition of the World Test Championship on a thunderous note as apart from winning the toss, nothing really went their way. R Ashwin with another fifer was class apart with Ravindra Jadeja supporting him outstandingly well. Young Alick Athanaze was outstanding with his defence and mindset before he played a poor shot as well like other batters. Eventually the West Indies folded for 150 before Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made 80 of them to keep hopes of an innings victory alive.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and his new opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal were watchful at the start before they played their natural game to frustrate the Windies even further after dominating the first day. India are 80/0 at stumps on Day 1 and will be looking to get a big first innings so that they don't have to bat second.

Rain stops play after Rohit-Jaiswal get India off to a smashing start
Yashasvi Jaiswal overcame initial nervousness to find his groove slowly and then play his shots and show that he belongs at this level. Before the rain stopped play, both Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal were set and India were 66/0.

Jaiswal gets off the mark on 16th ball, India off to a steady start
The 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal was a little nervous and it showed on his face and in his body language. Jaiswal couldn't score a run on his first 15 balls before smashing a boundary to open his account. While skipper Rohit Sharma began well as Team India got off to a steady start.

It's Yashasvi Jaiswal time for India after West Indies shot out for 150
West Indies batters struggled against the quality spin bowling from R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as they got bowled out for 150 after choosing to bat first. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal will come out to bat in international cricket for the first time and all eyes will be on him after he impressed one and all in domestic cricket and the IPL.

Ashwin gets his 33rd fifer, Jadeja ends with three wickets
R Ashwin got the final wicket of West Indies' innings to get to his 33rd five-wicket haul in Test cricket as West Indies were bowled out for 150 after they chose to bat in the first Test. While Ashwin got five wickets, Ravindra Jadeja took three as Team India dominated the proceedings with the ball.

West Indies eight down at tea, Ashwin has four wickets
West Indies got some respite from losing all the wickets with a 38-run stand between Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze but once that was broken by Mohammed Siraj, it all came downhill for them once again. R Ashwin came back to taking wickets yet again as he took two in two overs and West Indies find themselves at 138/8.

R Ashwin gets two wickets in quick succession, goes past 700
R Ashwin continues to wreak havoc in Dominica on the first day of the opening Test match against West Indies as he dismissed Alzarri Joseph and set batter Alick Athanaze to not only complete 700 wickets in international cricket but also reach four wickets in the innings so far.

Siraj gets his first, break crucial partnership
Mohammed Siraj, who made headlines in the first Test because of his catch finally took his first wicket of the day as he broke the crucial partnership of 38 runs between Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze. Holder scored 18 before getting out for 18.

Debutant and local boy Alick Athanaze has held one end and weathered the storm amid the carnage at the other end from the Indian bowlers. Athanaze has played both spinners and pacers well and will be key to West Indies getting to 200.

Jadeja gets his second, West Indies in deep trouble
West Indies batters continued to lose the plot as Ravindra Jadeja got his second wicket of the innings. Wicketkeeper batter Joshua Da Silva played a delivery outside the off-stump on backfoot but it got big on him and Ishan Kishan completed his second catch of the match.
