IND vs SL, Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours Highlights: India defend 213 against Sri Lanka in a come-from-behind win

Team India have qualified for the Asia Cup final leaving behind last year's disappointment. Team India now seem to have understood the assignment and are slowly building it towards the bigger prize.

Kuldeep Yadav continued his smashing form as India completed a 41-run heist against Sri Lanka, defending a low score of 213. Kuldeep's four-fer helped India overcome a Dunith Wellalage special.

The 63-run partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage finally came to an end as Ravindra Jadeja induced a false shot from the right-hander to reduced Sri Lanka 7 down.

The match has slightly gone in Sri Lanka's favour as Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage stitched a 50-run stand. India still need four wickets and it is slowly going out of hand with required run rate not being a problem for Sri Lanka.

Ravindra Jadeja after going wicketless against Pakistan and a scratchy start against Sri Lanka, finally got his first wicket of the evening getting the Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka out in slips where Rohit Sharma grabbed a stunner.

Kuldeep Yadav is in form where he will just drop the ball and get a wicket. After sending back Samarawickrama, he got the wicket of set Charith Asalanka.

After a missed catch and a few close calls, Kuldeep Yadav finally got his first wicket as Team India continued to chip at wickets. The latest one to depart was Sadeera Samarawickrama, who scored 93 runs against Bangladesh.

Indian pacers did well to hold the Sri Lankan top order to just 39 runs in the powerplay, taking three wickets. But with the target so less, they will have to keep chipping at the wickets.

Mohammed Siraj stuns Sri Lanka with Dimuth Karunaratne's valuable wicket in the 8th over. A thick outside edge finds Shubman Gill in the slip as India start easy celebrations. Sri Lanka down to three wickets with 25 runs on the scoreboard.

Jasprit Bumrah dismisses Kusal Mendis with a stunning yorker delivery in the 7th over. Mendis scored 15 off 16 balls, and Sri Lanka struggle at 25 for 2 after 6.4 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah drew the first blood with the big wicket of in-form opener Pathum Nissanka as Sri Lanka were 2-1 chasing 214 runs.

Sri Lanka have put one foot in the door towards the Asia Cup 2023 final having bowled out India for just 213 runs.

Axar Patel scored 26 off 36 helping India to get a score beyond 200. However, 213 isn't a strong score and Indian spinners will have to be on the money right from get go.

We are going to have a bat. That's the challenge you come across as a sportsman, different challenges thrown at you as a player and as a team. Last game was good for us, we batted well and then came out to defend the total with some good bowling. But again this is a new day and a fresh game. The pitch looks different, looks a lot drier and there's no grass and hence we bring in Axar for Shardul. It might assist the spinners but we also have three quality pacers.

"We are back at the Premadasa. Mostly for me this Asia Cup, whenever rain has not been around, has been attractive and spectacular to watch because of the pace. This is pretty unique. When you look at the bounce in all the venues it is pretty high and have similar kind of bounce, there's no low and slow bounce. The impact of pacers in this Asia Cup is huge as they have picked 70 percent of the wickets. The pitch for today is looking a lot different from the India-Pakistan pitch. No grass on this one," informs Sanjay Manjrekar. "This (surface) looks a lot like the Premadasa of the old years. This has no grass and I have feeling it will have an abrasive effect on the ball," adds Matthew Hayden.
