IND vs SA 1st T20I: Ahead of the first T20I against South Africa, India's bowler Mohammed Shami has returned negative for Covid-19. The Indian fast bowler shared the Covid-19 test report on his official Instagram page, writing "Negative".
Mohammed Shami has been rested from India's T20I series against South Africa and BCCI earlier today gave the confirmation. BCCI stated that Shami is yet to attain full recovery and will not take part in the T20I series against South Africa. Umesh Yadav, who earlier replaced Shami for the Australia series has again replaced the 32-year-old Shami for the South Africa T20I series that will begin on Wednesday, September 28. Along with Umesh, Shreyas Iyer, Shahbaz Ahmed and Arshdeep Singh have been added to the Indian squad for the Proteas series. However, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are not included in this series.
BCCI confirmed that Hooda has been ruled out due to a back injury and he has come to the NCA for injury management. However, Pandya and Kumar have been rested and they have also reported to the NCA for conditioning-related work. Arshdeep Singh, who missed the Australian series has now been brought back for the Proteas series.

India is set to play against South Africa in a three-match T20I series with the first match beginning in the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on September 28, while the second one will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on October 2. The final T20I will be played on October 4 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
