R Ashwin helps India see the back of Will Young. Young departs after scoring 51. New Zealand are 150/8.

New Zealand have crossed the 150-run mark. They are leading by 122 runs.

New Zealand lose their seventh wicket with 148 runs on the board. Ravindra Jadeja gets his third of the day.

Another half-century for Will Young. India need to get rid of him quickly to ensure that they don't have to chase more than 150 in the second innings.

R Ashwin produces the carrom ball to get rid of Glenn Phillips. New Zealand are six down for 131/6.

New Zealand's lead has gone past 100. They still have five wickets in hand.

Ravindra Jadeja breaks the fifty-run stand between Will Young and Daryl Mitchell. He gets Mitchell caught at long-on. New Zealand are 94/4 and lead by 66 runs.

The play has resumed after Tea. New Zealand are leading by seven runs.

Tea has been called on day two. NZ are 26/1 with Will Young and Devon Conway batting together.

India have been bowled out for 263. Akash Deep has been run out. Washington hit it towards the off-side and looked for a double. But he sent back Akash, who could not get to the crease in time. India lead by 28 runs.

Ajaz Patel dismisses R Ashwin. India are 247/9.

No century for Shubman Gill. He has been caught out at first slip off Ajaz Patel. Gill gone for 90.

GIll is the key for India. He is closing in on a hundred. Washington is accompanying him well.

Sarfaraz has to walk back too. He departs for a duck. 

Jadeja is gone now. India have lost their sixth. He has been caught out at slips.

India have crossed the 200-run mark. 

The play has resumed after Lunch on day two.

And that will be lunch on Day 2. A pretty strong session for India and probably the only one where they have dominated. They made 109 from it. India now at 195/5, trailing by 40 more.

Pant is gone!! He has been given LBW. He goes for a review but it's umpire's call on leg-stump hitting.

The first hour is done. India have done well this morning. 77 from the first hour

Gill gets to his fifty. He was dropped earlier at long-on as he tried hitting one too many. But this is a solid fifty. Pant is also going strong. He is not looking to stop anytime soon. He is playing at a strike rate of over 140.

It's been a fine start by the Indian batters, particularly Rishabh Pant. He has hit a few boundaries and India have quickly gone past 100.

(Key to yesterday's success) We knew that there was something to offer from the wicket and we needed to be accurate. Patience was also something that Rohit bhai kept insisting on because there were these couple of partnerships that were happening. So it was very important for us to be patient, we did that and it was good. (Conditions) It was extremely humid yesterday and coming from Chennai, I shouldn't be feeling like this but it was very different yesterday. We'll try to pull things back, especially in the first innings, if we can play out without losing wickets. If we can just spend time out there, I am sure we'll keep getting runs but it's just about having enough wickets in hand.
