IND vs NZ 1st Test Highlights: New Zealand finish Day 2 with lead of 134 runs, India under pressure

The second day of Test match has ended as New Zealand finish on 180/3 with a lead of 134 runs already. India are on the mat right now but they are fighting hard and will need quick wickets in the morning session.

Around half an hour left for STUMPS! New Zealand's lead is 131 runs and another partnership is building up between Mitchell and Ravindra. Can India pick a couple more wickets before the end of the day?

Devon Conway is OUT on 91. Spare of thought for him as misses out on a well-deserved century. Ravi Ashwin has struck for India as New Zealand are 154/3. 

Rishabh Pant has walked off the field after the ball hit his knee while wicketkeeping. A concern for India ahead of the Australia tour as well. His knee was injured in the accident as well. So India will be cautious with his injury and this could be a precautionary measure as well. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel has come out to keep as a substitute.

Ravindra Jadeja strikes!! Will Young has been dismissed and New Zealand are 142/2. A much-needed breakthrough for India as the lead is now of 96 runs. Young top-edged a sweep shot and Kuldeep took a good catch. Can India trigger a collapse?

50 partnership is up between Young and Conway as India continue to fight. The Kiwis are 117/1 and the lead is now 71 runs.

New Zealand have reached the 100-run mark with the loss of only one wicket. The lead is already past 50 and things are already getting troublesome for India. With a lot of overs still to go, how many wickets will India be able to pick? Will Young and Conway are looking comfortable at the moment.

Run-scoring has gone down ever since the first wicket has fallen. Can India pick more wickets to put pressure on New Zealand? Kuldeep Yadav and Ashwin will be key as sun is out in Bengaluru now with rain unlikely to any part at least for the rest of the day.

New Zealand have reached 82/1 by the tea time and India will be aiming for a few wickets in the final session to end the day on a better note after a horror show with the bat.

Kuldeep Yadav traps Tom Latham in front and India finally have their wicket. Kuldeep had a review wasted for his side but was more confident this time around as the umpire had to overturn his decision and India get the big wicket of New Zealand skipper Tom Latham.

It has been an entertaining knock from Devon Conway and he completes his fifty with a six, rather fittingly. Conway has played with freedom, accessed his off and leg side with aplomb and put India on the back foot. New Zealand continue to coast along.

New Zealand have crossed the 50-run mark. Clearly, they are dominating the Test match now. India are desperate for wickets and Kuldeep Yadav has been introduced into the attack.

KL Rahul has missed a catch of Tom Latham as he couldn't spot the ball standing at slips. Meanwhile, New Zealand are in the lead and are 48/0. When will India strike?

It has been a smooth sailing for New Zealand so far. They are 36/0 after 10 overs and both openers are looking comfortable in the middle. Who will strike for India first and when? Things are getting desperate for the home team. Can they respond to this pressure which they weren't expecting at all?

New Zealand are yet to lose a wicket after six overs! They are 23/0 as Latham and Conway are doing well to put pressure on India. Will Ashwin come into the attack now? There are already footmarks created on the pitch.

Latham and Conway have kept India at bay in helpful conditions showing it is not an unplayable pitch. They are 10/0 and trail only by 36 runs now. Wow!! How fast this Test match has moved after Day 1 was washed out. Can India get a wicket soon?

Ravichandran Ashwin has come out to bat and Rishabh Pant also resumes India's innings with him. India desperately need a partnership or they could fold inside 50 or 100 in the first inning. A huge half an hour post lunch.

India have lost three more wickets in the second hour and are staring down the barrel as far as the batting innings is concerned. India lost KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja's wickets in quick succession before breaking for lunch as New Zealand pacers have their tails up.

KL Rahul has been dismissed for a duck and India continue to sink further down in the dumps on Day 2 of the Bengaluru Test match against New Zealand. Batting at six, Rahul poked at the leg-angling delivery tamely and was caught behind by the wicketkeeper.

Ravindra Jadeja is the latest casualty as Matt Henry gets the better of him. India are 34/6 now.

New Zealand's catching has been spot-on today. Yashasvi Jaiswal goes hard at a William O'Rourke delivery and Ajaz Patel took a neat catch diving low to his left at backward point and India have gifted New Zealand a wicket.

A massive drop!! Rishabh Pant has been dropped by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell. Will Pant make them pay for this?

The rain has interrupted play in Bengaluru in the 13th over and might be a good thing for the Indian batters, as it has been an abject performance with the bat from the hosts. Can break rejuvenate their plans?

What a blinder of a catch from Devon Conway! A screamer no less! It wasn't a bad shot from Sarfaraz Khan but the bat turned in his hands as he looked to play through long-off and Conway at mid-off anticipated it sensationally, dived towards his right and timed it to perfection. India are 10/3 and New Zealand are running riot in conditions that suit their bowling arsenal.

Virat Kohli has gone now as William O'Rourke bowled a snorter of a delivery. It bounced, it came in and Kohli had no answer for it. It took an inside edge and New Zealand's plan of keeping a leg gully worked immediately and India are in early trouble in cloudy Bengaluru.

New Zealand finally have a big breakthrough. Matt Henry and Tim Southee had frustrated Rohit Sharma a lot with moving deliveries. Henry was unlucky with that LBW call but Southee has cleaned up Rohit with an incoming delivery as Rohit decided to dance down the track but missed the movement and got his leg pole knocked over.

Umpire Michael Gough surprisingly turned down Matt Henry's celebrappeal despite it seeming to be plumb. The New Zealand pacer trapped Indian captain Rohit Sharma in front of the wickets. The umpire didn't give it out and New Zealand went for a review. It looked out but Rohit survived as it was the umpire's call.

Tim Southee may not have had that much success in Test matches recently, however, with the overcast conditions, he is getting the ball to move rather handsomely both ways. Indian openers will have to be just a bit careful here early on.

The anthems are done and the Indian openers are in the middle. Murali Karthik and Simon Doull in their pitch report suggested that the ball might nip a bit in the first hour and even the first session and hence Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to be just a tad bit careful.

The outfield looks really sharp and it doesn't feel like it rained at all, reckons Simon Doull. Doull gets joined by Murali Karthik for the pitch report, who suggests that there might be a little dampness and hence, help for the bowlers early on, but underneath it is dry. The pitch is cold since it has been under covers since October 13 but it is hard and after some movement early on, the spinners are likely to come into action.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first despite the overcast conditions. Rohit admitted that the first hour or the first session might be tricky but general nature of the wicket is that it is a good wicket to bat on here in Bengaluru and wanted to put runs on the board. Tom Latham, the New Zealand skipper too wanted to bat first but was looking to exploit the wet conditions with the ball early on.

It was a day of Bengaluru city being itself. There was rain, drizzle and a lot more of those and the covers dominated the proceedings for most of the opening day. By the time the rain stopped, the officials didn't deem conditions to be match-ready.

The first day of the opening Test match between India and New Zealand was washed out due to incessant rain and bad weather in Bengaluru.
