IND vs ENG 4th Test Day 4 Highlights: India win Ranchi Test by five wickets, seal series

Dhruv Jurel wins the award and deservedly so. He played a crucial 90 in the first innings and backed it up with an excellent 39* in the second innings to win India the match.

It's been a very hard-fought series, so to come on the right side of it feels very good. A lot of challenges thrown at us but we responded and were quite composed. These guys want to be here, growing up in the domestic circuit, local club cricket, and coming here. It's a big challenge, but the responses I get are encouraging. We have to give them the environment they want to be in, we can't just keep talking to them, they are very clear in what they want to do. Jurel showed composure, calmness and shots all round the wicket. His first innings 90 was crucial, and again in the second innings along with Gill.

It's always not pleasing when you miss key players, but there's nothing we can do as a group. To fill their shoes was not easy, but they responded really well. When you make a mark like that, you hold yourself in a good position for a long career. This will motivate them.

I think it was a great Test match. If you see the scoreboard, it'll say India won by 5 wickets, but it doesn't give credit to the way things unfolded. I can only be proudof my team, we 've had some inexperiencedspinners (Bashir and Hartley), but I'm proud of their efforts. Part of my captaincy is allowing the young guys to revel and the freedom to play in some difficult conditions in India. I am a massive Test cricketfan, the numbers of youngsters coming along in both teams sets things up nicely for the future. If you look yesterday, anything was possible, it was incredibly difficult against the spinners, we knew the pitch wouldn't get any better, as we saw today. I don't think the criticismof Joe Root has been fair, the sheer amount of crickethe's played, he's incredible. So is Bashir, taking 8 wickets after having hardly played a lot of cricket is superb. You want to win series, you want to play and win cricketmatches. The only thing I can say is we left nothing on the field, we've fought hard and I'm happy with that.

We were put under pressure by them, but we got a good start by our openers, losing couple of wickets put pressure. But Jurel came out and took the pressure off. You have to see the situation and play accordingly - they were bowling well and protecting the boundaries, also not giving maidens and keep picking the singles (was the mindset). I just told him (Jurel) you batted beautifully in the first innings and to have the same mindset, try to use the feet to negate the off-spinner. The way he came down and played was beautiful. The first innings the ball was not turning much and hence I didn't use my feet, but second innings I decided to take the LBW out of the equation by using my feet. It means the world to us, coming here and having to play the series with not much batting experience, having lost KL after the first Test.. but Rohit Bhai backed us and gave us the confidence to go out and play with freedom.

Things became tricky at one stage for India as they were 120/5. But then, Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill soaked in all the pressure and made sure they took the team over the line!!! Meanwhile, England will hold their heads high for putting up a fight. The scoreline of 3-1 certainly doesn't show how tight this series has been so far!!! 

What a brilliant comeback this after losing the first Test!! India have won three Tests on the bounce to seal the series to become the first team to beat England's Bazball era!!!

After losing a quick couple of wickets, there has been some semblance in the middle. Dhruv Jurel has come out and played positively to rotate the strike!! Gill has also looked strong so far but needs to score runs instead of just defending!!

England have got the wicket off the possible worst delivery from Shoaib Bashir. He delivered a full toss and Bairstow took a low diving catch. India are four down now with still 72 runs needed to win.

This could possible be the last session of this Test match and it can go either way! India need 74 runs, England 7 wickets. Who will win?

It's Lunch on Day 4 and England have somehow managed to keep things tight in the second half of this season. They still have 74 runs in the kitty and must not have lost any hope with collapse in the offing especially in the fourth innings. Thriller could be loading in Ranchi in the second session which could be the last of this series! We will be back in 40 minutes.!!

With India losing quick wickets, the Ranchi Test is still hanging in balance with India still needing 75 runs to win. In fourth innings, even a single wicket can trigger a collapse, and hence, England will not be losing hopes as of now.

The responsibility of taking India home sits on the shoulders of Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja.

The opening partnership of 84 runs between Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal is the highest in fourth innings for India since 2008 when Sehwag and Gambhir had added 117 against England in Chennai.

Rohit Sharma has tasted eight Test wins under his captaincy and a win in Ranchi will be his ninth in the format. If India win today, then Rohit will equal Sunil Gavaskar's tally of Test wins as India captain. Sunil Gavaskar helped India win nine Tests under his captaincy, Rohit has already won eight games.

Jaiswal needs 50 more runs to complete 1000 Test runs for India. If he gets there today then he'll become the second fastest Indian to do so after Vinod Kambli. Kambli took just 14 innings to scale the milestone and Jaiswal is batting in his 15th Test innings.

A fantastic five-for in the second innings of the Ranchi Test helped R Ashwin surpass Harbhajan Singh to become the Indian bowler with the most Test wickets against an opposition at home. Harbhajan bagged 14 Test wickets against the Aussies at home and Ashwin now has 17 against England.

Shoaib Bashir was the star for England in the first innings of the Ranchi Test as he bagged a wonderful five-for and became the sixth English spinner to bag a five-wicket haul on Indian soil since 2000. Ashley Giles, Graeme Swann, Joe Root, Monty Panesar and Tom Hartley are the others.

England's veteran pacer James Anderson needs two more wickets to become the first fast bowler to grab 700 Test wickets.

If England go on to concede the fourth Test, then it will be their first Test series loss since the appointment of Ben Stokes as captain.

The pitch at the JSCA International Stadium Complex is deteriorating thick and fast. The ball is keeping pretty low and it can be a major cause of concern for India during their chase.

India captain Rohit Sharma has completed 1000 Test runs against England. He is still unbeaten on 24 off 27 balls.
