Ravindra Jadeja stunned the crowd at Pune's MCA Stadium with a sensational diving catch during India's World Cup 2023 game against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19. The ace all-rounder rose to the occasion again with a flying effort at point area to dismiss settled Mushfiqur Rahim during the 43rd over.
Indian team produced some brilliant fielding efforts to keep Bangladesh under pressure throughout the game. KL Rahul's diving effort to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 25th over was another example of high-standard fielding by the Indian team. India's impressive efforts on the field helped them restrict Bangladesh to 256 runs.
Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das gave Bangladesh a brilliant start with a 93-run stand for the opening wicket. Both batters registered impressive fifties to put Bangladesh on track for a big total. Kuldeep Yadav gave India a breakthrough with Tanzid's wicket in the 15th over and shifted the momentum for the Men in Blue.
Jadeja was brilliant with his spells against Bangladesh as he dismissed dangerous-looking Litton Das and stand-in skipper Najmul Shanto. He finished his spell with two wickets for 39 in ten overs but made the biggest impact with his stunning catch to help India dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim.
Mushfiqur scored 38 off 46 balls and was looking in good rhythm for a big knock. Mushfiur slammed Bumrah's delivery through points but Jadeja produced an acrobatic effort with a catch diving to his right. Mahmadullah managed to score a crucial 46 runs off 36 balls to help Bangladesh score a challenging total of 256 for eight in 50 overs. Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each for India.
